I wouldnt discount Downing though I think hell have a good season. I mean its almost impossible not to improve on last season but one bad season doesnt make him a bad player. He'll feature a lot on the right.

I'd rather play a player in position than a better player out of position.

Would love us to get Sahin, I remember him for dortmund, he was class. Sahin can also play the deepest in midfield, so he could play in lucas positon alongside Allen if required. If Downing can keep up his current form im happy to keep him as the RW. But another winger in to keep him on his toes would be welcome. I loved the way Borini knows when to come up and tuck in to support suarez, he has obviously played in that formation lots of times.

'Fact' number 9 is referencing stats from Fifa, on the official LFC website - is this some sort of inside joke?

9. His FIFA 2012 profile gives him 91/100 for acceleration, 90/100 for agility and 86/100 dribbling. The area he needs to work on - if the football console is to be believed - is slide tackling, at which they rate him 24/100.

It's basically a statement of "We know you have no idea who this is, and we know exactly where you're going next to check, so we did it for you." I was cracking up when I saw that on the facts page.

A heavy defeat like this will always come in the PL once or twice, lets just hope we got it out of the way and dont suffer like this again.

Better to slip up and find faults at the beginning than in the middle or end.

Having man city next is quite annoying though, then arsenal...

Agger out is annoying, any news on why Enrique was not picked?

Unlike ITK's from both sides..I thought it was more credible since he always denies interest (ie. Podolski/Cazorla) and when he smiles you know it's done or in advances stages. Who knows it could be like a Mata situation where it goes wrong.

I really think the reason fans from both teams want Sahin is the possibility of him staying permanently on top of helping for a season.

The Independent saying Rodgers has convinced FSG to release 10m into the budget to sign Adam Johnson.

Don't know how reliable the Independent is, but I would take Johnson for 10m in a heartbeat.

MOTM performance Raheem Sterling. I've said it before, and I'll say it again plenty of times, he will be a huge player for us.

The impact Joe Allen made, settling down the midfield with his calmness and fluidity, with the little time he was given, and the generally good performance from Pepe are good shouts, but I think Sterling takes it, on his full non-substitute debut.

Liverpool Football Club have reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign Nuri Sahin on a season-long loan deal, subject to the player passing a medical.

Sahin moved to Madrid last summer fresh from helping Borussia Dortmund secure the German championship and being named as the Bundesliga's Player of the Season.

The playmaker collected another league title winners' medal as the Spanish giants clinched La Liga in May.

Sahin has 31 caps for Turkey and became their youngest ever scorer when he netted on his debut against Germany in 2005, aged 17.

The 23-year-old will now undergo a medical on Merseyside.
