Why would u do that for? It wa released in that order for a reason, its called a prequel, just like silence of the lambs and the other movies that followed.

You mean games, since they are three of them :] ...Well, depending on the mode you set, you can have the PS3's setting to Normal, which will have the games in their native 4:3 (or square-ish view) with thick black bars on both sides of the TV which is 16:9, or you can set the mode to Full Screen on the PS3 which stretches them out horizontally to fill the HDTV better, but there are still some thin black bars on the right and left, even with the PS2 games, so the games don't get cropped unless your TV overscans

Ive never gotten into the MGS series, my cousin swears by it... i played some of the GC twin snakes at his place once... i guess it got me intrigued enough to go out and get thism for $30 why the heck not huh?

But I had been looking into it and I'm really kinda bummed that MGS3 doesn't have the 2nd disk with metal gear 1 & 2. Just a disk away from they WHOLE series (minus portables) Just seems kinda stupid 2 me... sigh...

Anyone know if MGS3: Snake Eater has Metal Gear 1 & 2? It seems to be pretty cheap to get a hold of?

I picked up the Essential Collection yesterday, and to my dismay I still suck just as much at the original Metal Gear Solid as I did back when I was trying to play it at my friends house years ago .

Im still confused as to why they did not make it a nice One Disk collection for the PS3 Owners! they could have easily fitted all these discs on one Blu-Ray disc! (bit like Orange Box) nevermind, im still gonna get this

Ehy would they do that? As a PS2 compilation it's available to everyone with a PS2, 20gb PS3, 60gb PS3, and 80gb PS3. If it was a PS3 compilation they'd severely limit the market for no good reason.

Snake Eater is the original release. In order to get Metal Gear 1 & 2, you need to get the original release of MGS3 Subsistence, so you can get both discs. To tell you the truth though, I have played almost all the way through Metal Gear 1, and there is not much story, basically all the calls I have gotten are helping hints.

Although it is cool to be able to finally play the originals as they were intended, not the nes remakes.

I bit the bullet and ordered this. Should be over from the states in a few days.

I only played MGS1 (back in the day!) and MGS2 before so looking forward to the sub version of that and to playing MGS3 finally.

Is it really best to play 3 first or doesn't it really matter?

Does anyone know how much this collection costs in the UK? I've searched everywhere but it just says SOLD OUT so if anyone knows the official price please let me know.

Also, do you think it would be worth my buying the collection? Or should I just buy the 3rd game. Bear in mind I've never played Metal Gear Solid in my life. Would I enjoy the 1st one?

    Thanks in advance.

I just bought this today, and I love it..

I was kinda disappointed that MGS was in a PS2 like box, I thought it would be in the original PS box.. But MGS is still 2 discs, making 4 altogether.

I was REALLY surprised at the manuals, they are the original manuals and then some.. They really put in a lot of time into this, really good deal.. I would pay 30 dollars alone for MGS..

It really feels good playing a such a great game (MGS) you havent played in over 8 years.

I was considering getting this because I've only played Metal Gear Solid on PS and that was a long time ago and I hated it (I was young, no patience, even though I loved RPG's haha) and with MGS4 coming out soon and everyone praising the series so much, I wanted to give it another shot. I also hear the story is great and I LOVE games with good stories.
