We should really have a general footballing thread as it seems that is what this thread is turning into.

General. I hate all forms of diving/cheating and Im not afraid to say whether any player dived, I've called Suarez (obviously), Downing, even Gerrard out for diving. If I was a United fan there is no way on earth I would call that a penalty, if that was Suarez my stance would not change.

Yeah a general one is needed, this has certainly turned into one.

The angle you posted looks like there isn't any contact, in the one I posted it looks like there was, however it wasn't enough to go down etc etc etc, stupid Young, Young is naughty etc

To be fair, I think it isn't always the case of contact = a penalty, however this day and age defenders need to be a little more careful.

Clap, clap well said!! People jumping on the back of any little thing to do with Man United. We buy the referees, we cheat, our players dive, Fergie time etc etc. It's pathetic!!!!!

So what you're saying is ANY and ALL forms of contact in the box no matter how little (brushing the tip of their leg hair) or how big (breaking their legs) it is a penalty...

By letter of the law; Yes. The rules only allows for contact if you hit the ball first. Otherwise football is a non-contact game.

YPOTY should be (judging from the nominees) I would say Sturridge, I think he has had a great start to his premier league career, Bale will prob win it though. Evans was eligibile for YPOTY (have to be 23 when season starts) but wasn't nominated (Think he deserves to be there, maybe not
win though.) Aguero is also a very good shout for it too.

EDIT: What am I saying, it shouldn't be Sturridge, Aguero is prob the best choice IMO, ignore that haha.

I'm not going to say he is a wonderful defender simply because Ferguson or any other person said it,do you actually believe he is the best defender in the league right now ?!! I think even Ferguson knows he isn't he may just be saying that to motivate him or any other reason.It's just my unbiased opinion.Just because i'm a Man Utd fan doesn't mean i have to praise every single player of them team no matter what.And the way i see him,aside from any skills he is not even strong enough to be a good defender,he almost loses every man to man contact.And no team gets several clean sheets simply because a defender is very good or even two, it has to be the 4 in the back and the 4 in the middle working together right.And if you have a very strong midfield and attackers you will hold possession a lot and that alone will raise the chanced of getting clean sheets,no to mention the superb performance of De Gea.
