I don't understand Fergie going public on potential targets. It is either at 70 he has decided if you can't beat them join them. Every other club makes it common knowledge who they want, United normally do not. Or as I think more likely, season tickets are selling slowly?

At least there's no expectation the Glazers will provide for United (for)ever. That might turn out to be crucial long-term. We're in a better position than City, Chelsea and PSG etc because everyone at the club knows the clubs dilemma. Other clubs will be left with astronomical wages they can't reasonably pay once their owners gets tired of owning the club and walks out.

I think Fergie goes public because it fits his plan. He's surely trying to put pressure on Arsenal and Sao Paulo to make a deal happen sooner than later. After going public about it, there's no chance Arsenal or Sao Paulo can say no bid was made etc. I think Fergie knows exactly what he's doing but it can still backfire.

But eventually he won't be there. It is a fact of life. He might get tired of investing in Chelsea or he will eventually die, we all do. Nobody walks the earth forever. Football clubs must learn to have contingency plan because the worst will eventually happen. A football club can live forever but its owner won't.

It's not about stirring it up. I know United fans that will be pissed off with what Fergie has said. Thing is though, Fergie has left it too late to say anything against the Glazers now, it should have been done 7 years ago.

The Glazers have bled £500m out of the club at least. How is that not negative?! Fergie's comments stink of "Alex, the float is looking sketchy, say something good about us" You have to give it to the Glazers, they realised that Fergie is the one person they have to keep onside, and somehow they have appeared to do that.

I seriously doubt the IPO, or lack of, has any impact on this summer transfers at all. An IPO takes time, the budget for this summer was probably set last summer. Next summer may be different.

But if the short-term future is uncertain surely they can adjust budgets?

I think United will spend more money. I just can't see them spending the money that's needed to land Moura. If they do, I'll be back to offer my congrats on getting him!

They would still want to keep the value of the club up to eventually get as much money as possible. They'll need to ensure the club is competitive.

The IPO was more about long-term than short-term thing to me.

Yeah, we really need a solution to the Glazer problem rather sooner than later. Not sure how it could happen though. I wish they would just sell of their stock and reduce their ownership but they wouldn't get maximum value with the debt. Bit of a catch 22.

SAF would probably test Moura out on different positions, don't think there's a set plan where he would play.

We don't have the same perspective as Fergie. He looks at it from the angle if he gets the money he needs to get the players he want's - which he does according to him and Gill. We (fans) looks at the broader perspective which I don't think he cares about.

So I wouldn't say it's not subscribing to the same views, rather we see different things from where we're sitting.

If its true about the float being shelved, not a huge surprise. Only a complete moron would have invested in those type of shares.

My gripe with Fergie is. He always goes on about not paying over the odds, but he doesn't mind how the Glazer clan purchased the club. From the outside the debt looks like it is holding the club back, yet he defends the owners whenever he can. And seems to have a pop at the customers/fans in the process.

The Glazers are here for the long haul. I take no interest in their other businesses, but I'd guess United is the only one still making a profit, even with its massive debt and crappy times. So would you sell it?

The Glazers bought a Supercar and are trying to run in on chip fat and have a manager who deep down is a tight sod = perfect match.

No wonder David Moyes is favourite for the United job when Fergie leaves, he's had the prefect audition at Everton.
