Honestly, I'd rather us look stupid than being stupid. To me throwing that kind of money on a 19 year old isn't heathly.
Same with Hazard, Chelsea were prepared to offer more money so let them. It's easy to make a bad deal but very hard to make a good one. I want us to make good deals.

So realistically, who else is out there who we need? it never made sense to me why we were going after moura anyway, seeing as we need a LB and CM, but thats the 5th summer in row, we have wanted a top target and lost out on them.....................powell and kagawa WONT win our title back

I don't see how it's embarrassing to lose out on players because of ridiculous sums of money involved. We wanted certain players but they and their clubs wanted insane amounts of money for them. How much in recent years have we criticised City and Chelsea for the stupid amounts of money they pay for players and their wages. Signing Hazard or Moura for the prices Chelsea and PSG paid for them would be us doing exactly what we have criticised City and Chelsea for.

I don't know who's out there but we're probably going to do similar deals as the Kagawa deal. Smaller deals for players with big potential. It's quite clear that other clubs will outbid us for big name players but we can, and will, buy smartly as we have in the past.
We lost on goal difference last season, if all our younger players have taken a step forward this off-season there's no reason we shouldn't compete.
Kagawa to me can add a bit of flair and football smartness to the team and we need that. Powell is one for the future. The potential upside is huge with him.Other opinions are available.

Pretty sure I said something similar a week or so ago. I knew all along you wouldn't get Moura. Not being hateful or pouring scorn, but there is only one club in the world at the moment who can spend that money on a 19 year old and not care if it doesn't pay off and that's PSG.
City choked at Hazard's wages and agents fee. You know when City wisen up with transfers the worm has turned. I think PSG are the only club in the world now who will throw that kind of money around.

Who is we? Hazard for 32mil is about right, £35 for moura is a joke. i have no issue paying top dollar for proven players.
the money city paid for yaya, silva and aguero, i doubt any of us wouldve moaned
can anyone you honestly tell me, going into the season, with what we have and maybe RVP is enough? yes i know vida is back.

It's not just transfer fees though. It's also incredibly high wages and agent fees. If you agree to a £220,00 per week pay check for one player and a £6m agent fee other players will hold you ransom to that. That's not good.
I think we can win it. We lost on goal difference last season we've added Kagawa and I expect a lot of our players to have a rebound season.Other opinions are available.

I'm not just talking about the transfer fee with Hazard, wages and agent fee's were ridiculous. There's spending big then there's spending stupid amounts of money.
And yeah I am confident going into next season, we have strengthened the squad with Kagawa who you seem to think is not that good for some odd reason. Plus the transfer window is still open with the potential for more signings. Vidic is back as well. Cleverley was looking good at the Olympics too. Don't forget we only lost out on the league title last season on GD.

Fact is, City spent a shit load of money on players that didn't work out before getting some good ones. Remember Robinho? They've thrown a lot of money on their problem. We don't need to do that. City had no core of players. We do.

Robinho, Jo, Santa Cruz, Adebayor, Dzeko to be honest, off the top of my head, there are probably more I am sure; off course if you keep spuinking money like that obviously some are going to be excellent signings.

I like our business model, I love how we don't bow down and kiss the feet of agents, some may say it makes us look stupid, others may say it makes us look prudent and agents will know they can't take us for a ride.
On another note fuck spending 30 mil on a CM, lets work on age reversal on Scholesey, he has been great so far.

Even if we had Donald Trump owning United and could spend any money in the world. I wouldn't want us to do it. The thing is, it is not sustainable. I guarantee the big spending teams today will be in a tough situation sooner or later when they can't afford to pay those wages and fees anymore while players will expect them to do just that. Sooner or later they'll have to pay a average player a salary not matching his skill. Fans think they want United to spend big but they don't look at it longterm. Offer fair market prices and let them take it or leave it. Think about the the longterm. We offered £30m for Moura if that isn't enough - that isn't enough. Don't overvalue potential deals.
Right now a lot of United fans undervalue our players and overvalue other teams players. I just don't get it.

0-0 after 45' against Barca. Valdez made a really good save on a Rooney penalty in the last minute.
