Kagawa looks good. De Gea made a good save or two from the 20 minutes I saw.
Penalties need more practice :P

Kagawa will be a huge addition to our team. Such a smart player, going to create a lot of scoring opportunities. Thought he was our best player in the second half.

Fergie on Van Persie after the Barca match;
"We've made a bid, they've been trying to negotiate with other clubs. We have to persevere. Hopefully it comes our way."

If Kagawa can play in a 4-4-2 with Carrick were golden.

Dzeko scored 19 goals last season. How many did Berba score?
But the rest on there are bad players apart from Dzeko and Robinho. Imagine Robinho in the current City squad! Instead he had to play with the likes of Benjani, Caicedo etc. Right player at the wrong time.

4-4-2 isnt the way forward anymore, 4-3-2-1, with kagawa in the hole is what we need to do. kagawa will be wasted in a 442, he isnt a CM at all or a winger.
re RVP, dunno what to say about that tbh, sounds like we are making him our last signing............
Should PSG get a find re the FFP with the money they are spending? 37mil on a 19 year old?! he isnt Neymar ffs!
Thanks to Final for the sick sig!

I don't see how you can call the rest bad players, especially Adebayor. They are or were just at the wrong club.

City are paying high wages to average players.

Regardless if they we're bad players or not - City bought them and later bought replacements for them. They changed their whole, more or less, XI in a period of a year or two before they got the group of players they have now. I don't see how any United fan could want us to do business that way.

You are not going to get him. We aren't even interested in negotiating.
The media managed to send both sets of fans into fits of delirium yesterday by practically making it up as they went along.
We want to sell him abroad for obvious reasons. The only way we'll sell to a league rival is if they offer us a deal we can not refuse - like City have done with Nasri and Adebayor. Man U will not do this and will therefore not get him. Ferguson's lame attempt to put pressure on Arsenal with his comments last night will not change that
-
08-09-2012 #28587
There's no way for you to know that. Most journalists seems to think a deal can be made. Fact is, if RVP prefer United Arsenal will have no choice but to sell to us. Wouldn't be surprised if he hands in a transfer request in the next 48 hours.

You're wrong though, we do have a choice. We can simply chose to make him see out his contract.
Tell him in no uncertain terms, you either go abroad, or you stay. Sure we'd lose him for free in a year, but considering the bids being made for him (less than £15m), who really cares? We are healthy financially and can afford to write that off. I also highly, highly doubt that Wenger would spend any fee we received for him on a replacement, so it makes very little difference to the fans.

You know as well as I do that's not how you do business. That's not going to happen.

Cyn is right though, imagine if Rooney didn't sign a new contract a few years ago and was set on leaving, do you think Ferguson would sell him to City/Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool. Hell no! Remember when Heinze wanted to go to Liverpool? It's perfectly understandable for Wenger to not want to sell his best player to a title rival, especially since he's already lost quite a few players to title rivals. But I still do believe there is a chance we can still sign him. Although I can't see it happening, it's weird when clubs sell their best players to rival teams in the same league, just like it was weird when we after Nasri.

Funny how some United fans are going nuts over missing out on Moura. Up until four weeks ago the world knew nothing of Moura. And now we are all depressed and angry on missing out on a player, who isn't good enough to get into the Brazil Under 23 team.
According to his agent a deal had been agreed for him to move to United, that is until Paris came a calling. I believe there are more restaurants in Paris than Manchester, so no doubt Moura will get fatter quicker in France than he would have done in England.
I wish someone at OT would now take that ridiculous amount of money they had for Moura, and go offer it for Muniain.
Isn't that the reason United panicked and offered him that filthy pay rise, because he wanted to join City?Last edited by LC77; 08-09-2012 at 14:37.

The situation with Rooney was a different in the sense that Real Madrid were the only realistic place for him to go. He said himself he would never have signed for City so the feeling around OT must have been that a deal with Madrid was in the cards.
RVP on the other hand WANTS to join United. That's put Arsenal in a different position. They could keep him for now but in January a £5m bid would be too much to turn down in that case. Better to take £20m now.Other opinions are available.

Just up the offer to £20m and he's yours
. I can't imagine that he's dying to join Man Utd, I feel it's more of i have no other choice scenario. City have publicy stated where they stand on him and Juve I think last week said they're most likely out. RM, Barca and surprisingly Chelsea are not interested so all that RvP has left is interest from Utd, in terms of trophy chasing teams. That probably explains the rumoured £15m bid, but I reckon add a few million and you'll get him
The stance we've taken is that no PL rival can get him, hence the way Ferguson described the negotiations so far during his interview yesterday. Regardless, money is money and we've spent £35m~ this summer and are supposidly still in the market. Wouldn't surprise me if we rid of Robin if the offer is right
This is him earlier today:

He only said that AFTER signing his new mega payrise. I seem to remember DC had the biggest boner at the prospect of signing Rooney.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...ster-City.html
I still think RvP is doing a Rooney and will end up with his very own mega payrise.

In recent years City have always come up with a bid that we can't turn down. Unless an offer like that comes in I don't think we will sell him to a domestic rival, we don't owe him any favours. Obviously we sold Cesc last year for about half what he is worth but that was a very special set of circumstances, this is different.
Just to say, I do expect us to sell him. Either for a nominal fee abroad or for a lot of money to City. United just won't offer £25m, simple as that
There's a different story about who RVP wants to join every day. Mondays and Tuesdays it's Man City, Wednesdays and Thursdays it's Juventus and Friday's and Saturday's it's Man U. Sunday he can't decide, the poor thing
Until he comes out and states a specific club he wants to move to, which is an incredibly shit thing to do to your current club, our position has not changed at all. He hasn't made a peep since that statement in June

I think we can assume United knew exactly what clubs we're interested in Rooney and what clubs he was interested in. These are "trade secrets" clubs know.
---
RVP has informed Juventus that he's in advanced stages of negotiations with Man United so obviously he thinks United are the team to beat. He might still go to Juve but clearly he has showed his hand although not publicly. https://twitter.com/tancredipalmeri/...71013390028800

I think RVP is ours. But I'm still not sure he's what we need.Other opinions are available.

Manchester United wont be getting him unless they pay a premium. Even if we aren't going in the right direction since we can't afford his wages... IT IS good business to keep him.
Selling him would be taking away a boatload of assists and 30+ potential goals and putting our bets on Giroud. Giroud perhaps should start and RVP be in a Bergkamp role.
He's been phenomenal anytime he's been fit.. any Arsenal fan knows all those few months throughout the years where he started and has saved us many points. (would have won in 2008 if fit) All this only good for one season talk is bullshit he's always been good just hadn't had a successful string of starts look at first half 2011 all that coming back from injury. We've supported him through all this which makes it painful.Last edited by Firefox; 08-09-2012 at 17:50.

Do you think we'll sign Usain Bolt?

-
08-09-2012 #28600
Of course not. It's just a running gag. He'll get to come to Carrington and take a drill or two, sure. But there's no chance he'll ever be signed. The players we have in our squad have worked their whole lives to become football players there's simply no chance for anyone to walk in at 25.
He wouldn't be stupid enough to forfeit a very successful career for an uncertain one either I'm sure.Other opinions are available.
