United don't need a creative midfielder, we need a player who can boss the midfield and control the play. Basically, we need someone like Yaya Toure, he is City's most important player if you ask me. I think Cheik Tiote is good shout but he's a dirty bastard.

Many quality midfielders have moved to other clubs and United haven't shown an interest in them.

Spurs almost capturing Moutinho for £22m. United should go for him, he has everything it takes to be a top midfielder.

Yaya Toure is the leagues best midfielder without a doubt. He cost £24m and that's proved to be a steal.
I don't think anyone that's been on the market these last few years, except Modric, has what it takes to reach Scholes level.

That was during the "no value" years.

I think Fergie realises he will never replace Scholes and is kicking it down the road for the next bloke.

The Ronaldo situation is becoming more and more interesting. Can't help to wish Gill & Fergie will come out and say they've kept all the money from selling him and will now use it to bring him back. https://twitter.com/Cristiano/status/243055091735748608

If Ronaldo wants to leave Madrid, we should do everything in our power to bring him home.

Yes. No way we can let him sign anywhere else.

Wayne Rooney admits he has returned to training seven pounds overweight
    • Manchester United striker blames 'summer holiday bevvies'
    • 'I struggle to walk for first half an hour the day after games'
Should put an end to a debate we had over here after the Everton game. He should be more professional with the wages he's on. Lets hope he returns in better shape.

Just imagine what he'd do if he took a more professional approach to training!

Its hard to draw any conclusions about anything since it was 4 years ago and he had his best August ever with 7 pounds more to his belly.

Yeah but you insisted something like that would never ever be allowed by our coaches.

Ronaldo situation is just him doing what Rooney did two years back. He's going nowhere just wants more money.

Obviously, I had that situation a couple of years ago but made it clear very quickly that I had made a mistake. As long as people want me to be a Man United player, then that is what I will be.

SM: When you look back on your stance two years ago, does your blood run cold and wonder why on earth you did it?

WR: You learn from things. When I look back I realised very quickly I made a mistake. It wasn’t my position to say what I said. I went to see the manager and David Gill (chief executive) and told them I thought I had made a big mistake and can we sort it out. I asked what can we do from here. It took just 12 hours to sign a new contract. It is an episode that I am not proud of but it has helped me because it has given me great desire and hunger to be more successful at this club.

How many Autobiographies does he come out with? He seems to be talking to everyone these days to sell copies. Most people seem to have forgotten about the saga.. until the injury.

    Same here.

No matter what he helps United achieve, I will now only ever see him as an overpaid employee of Manchester United.

Moral of the story is, don't flash your knockers at the neighbours.

Rooney isn't more overpaid than anyone else. The going rate for a world class striker whom can also play in virtually any other posistion is a fair bit higher than what Rooney is on. He could easily get more somewhere else.

That being said, football players salaries in general would make an interesting case study. Whether they are justified or not.

Wazza is not world class. he is very good, but he hasnt got the the world class level yet. if anything, he has regressed.

    still he is only 26

Phil Jones out for 8 weeks btw, im still not sold on phil, dunno if he will be a CB or a DM. Either way, with Smalling out, fabio on loan and rio/vida/evans finding their way back to fitness, its still a blow.

Thanks to Final for the sick sig!

I don't know many people that would leave Rooney out on a top five list. He'd easily take a spot in any team in the world. At least that's my definition of world class. Not to mention he scored 35 goals total last season. 27 in the PL.

    I'll take such a player 8 days a week.
