18 million is sold to retailers. So is sony's 10,5 million, as well.

Anyways, the interview was meh. Looks like the guy got pissy anytime the guy from eurogamer asked uncomfortable questions. Sigh, the 360 needs peeeeetaaah! back as soon as possible.

    *sigh*

Aside from the ever repeating sales arguements, what are the possibilties of a Blu-Ray drive for the next Xbox?

I'm sure we would've seen similar (if not better) also from the xbox had support not been pulled. So I reckon at the very least till 2011/12. This generation of consoles are much more complexed than the last, so I bleieve, it will take more for the devs to dp their magic.

However, I could be wrong. God of War 3, Killzone 2, GT5, Gears 2 etc etc will be enough, and that I am wrong. But at the same time, wouldn't you want to give developers the time to play around with architecture they already know now, and give us great games; than waiting again for years for them to get to know an architecture, and to get a decent game?

Let's just say I don't want an endless cycle of consoles that don't at least get close to their potential.

yeah but look at God of War 2 compared to Gears. They were within months of launching and while I love God of War and Gears, graphically it wasn't even remotely close.

So why keep the old consoles around? Why squeeze out every last ounce of power when you can pretty much release launch titles that eclipse the hardwork and effort.

Gameplay is in design rather than hardware, if (hypothetically) God of War 2 released on the 360 rather than the ps2 at the time it was released, it would have looked better.

I really don't see the need for 7-10 year old electronics, even if you can pull of God of War2, FF12 etc. your still cutting the dev's off at the knee's by having them force it onto nearly decade old "computers".

I think they will have to do something. Digital downloads just won't cut it even in 2-4 years. They will be alienating huge chunks of the market. There are 30-50gb dvd9's(red laser anyhow) out there though...no idea why it never took off. They are called VMD's...maybe MS will buy that out.

    ***Sarcasm alert!***

No no no no no...you guys are reading this "shipped vs sold" thing all wrong. They get 18 million in sales because they first sold/shipped 9 million units to retailers which were in turn sold to consumers adding another 9 million in sales. There you have it...18 million 360's sold. Of course those numbers are probably skewed by about...oh...33%...lol

I guess we're gonna have to agree to disagree.

I just think it's slightly pointless to have all this power in consoles, when you're at least not gonna try to tap most of the power out of it. *shrug* That's just me though.

That is only good for a very smalll set of consumers. It's won't be good for devs, publishers, platform holders and mainstream consumers. Unless you are hardcore and have the money to spend, otherwise it's not ideal for everyone else.

I agree. Not everyone can afford a new set every 5 years or so. Especially after spending so much on games and accessories.

You also have devs worrying about a new architecture. I personally don't think there's anything bad about these "old" computers.
