There's a few I wasn't aware of and more to be announced (and some to be canceled or delayed). It's just nice to see it in a big list!

EDIT: I think IGN is wrong about Halo 3 in 2006. Bungie is going to take it's time with that one.

I don't think Soulcalibur was officially announced for next-gen consoles. The developers were talking about having Soulcalibur 3 first for PS2 before working on the new game for next-gen consoles.

Here's a qoute about Soul Caliber...

"Namco is definitely planning to develop the SOULCALIBUR series on the next-generation platforms," Namco told IGN. "However, when we started development for SCIII, the specs for the next-generation platforms were not set, and there were no dev kits, which ultimately lead us to development on the PS2."
    Link: http://xbox.ign.com/articles/601/601711p1.html

Sounds like it's coming to all three platforms...maybe even the Phantom! (just kidding)

I thought Splinter Cell was delayed for later on this year, (unfortunately) maybe they just missed it, Killing Day also caught my attention, the game looks fantastic but im wondering if its really finished and released somewhere in '06 or thats just one of their estimated guesses like some other titles listed there, as i noticed.

Despite that, it should be an exciting year just by taking a look at the list.

And i don't think Soul Calibur's coming to the Phantom. . .but did you hear that Duke Nukem Forever's launching for the Phantom 2?

    I count 5 RPGs:

    Oblivion
    Final Fantasy XI (MMORPG)
    Lost Odyssey
    Jade Empire 2
    Huxley (MMO-FPS-RPG)

Huxley may not really be an RPG. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it has to have some RPG elements in order to be a MMO.

Thats the same thing that they said about 40 something games releasing from lauch and so on. But anyway this is good new for the XBox 360.
Resistance 2, KillZone 2, WarDevil, MGS4, God Of War 3, Final Fantasu XIII, White Knight Chronicles, Gran Turismo 5, and a alot more, how can 2008 not be the PS3's year.

Huxley is technically an MMOFPS which wouldn't qualify it as an MMORPG. Although, you are correct in saying it will have RPG elements, so I, myself, would qualify it as an MMOFPSRPG and it may be qualified as such. You do level up and, well, do everything you would in an MMORPG, even have different kinds of classes and customization.

Just because game has RPG elements it can't be count as MMOFPSRPG. This would mean that games like Dynasty Warriors are RPGs because you level up your character, can boost 'em with items and getting better weapons.

Whats the Big Deal about JRPG's I only need one or two a year anyway, Im 24 nearly 25 and dont have the time to put in 60 hours constant on a game, i think its great for teenagers and i went through my RPG days on the SNES with FF6(the best by far) and chrono trigger/Secret of mana etc.

there will be more coming but in my Personal oppinion i dont have time for RPG's THAT doesnt mean they shouldnt come out.

But id rather have 2 brilliant RPG's a year and not 10, 8 average and 2 killer

    so you'd rather have a 10 hour thrill >_>

If you don't have time to do that then how do you find Xbox Live so great?

And it doesn't have to be constant....

You can play the 360 MMOs without paying for the gold level membership on Live. All you need is the free silver level. There are other reasons that I think MMOs might be better on PC, but cost is not a reasonable objection.

That's not the only reason, I looked at the features of Huxley and you can basically do anything you would be able to do in an MMORPG besides the fact that all your classes are FPS based.

The one funny thing about RPGs however, is that every game could be considered an RPG given its name. Role Playing Game, you play a role of a character, you kinda do that in every game besides RTS games.

Thats a surprisingly good list for the first year of a new console, im very impressed, although i could debate the credibility and reliability of the list as Halo 3 is on there and so is lost odessy, wardevil and alone in the dark all supposed to come out in 2007, non the less Xbox 360 is looking surprisingly appealing after a mis-judged start.

if you ask me i think half of those games won't be out this year
When it comes to porting Final Fantasy XIII to Xbox 360, Square's of the opinion that it's not the size of the disc that matters; it's how you use it.

MMO means Massively Multiplayer Online. Specifically reserved for those games where you can play with 1000 people at the same time in the same game world. So, its not the style of game, but its online feature that gives it the MMO portion of its name.

Who was that in response to?

If it was me, I know what a MMO is, I was just saying that you could consider Huxley a MMOFPSRPG because it has everything a regular MMORPG has (the RPG elements).

I hope that Halo 3 will be as good as or if not betta than Halo 2. Halo 2 was in my opinion wot won the x-box vs. ps2 war for Microsoft (i dont care wot the sale figures say x-box still won) Halo 3 will be wot wins it for the 360 against the PS3 mark my words!!
