    REFLEX help me plz.

I don't know if you remember but i mentioned to you that my 300 seemed a little grainy and you said it was meant to be like that. Well I haven't been using my tv much for movie playback except via TVersity but that's low quality visuals so i don't expect anything.

However downloading a few trailers from PS.S (the store) i seem to be seeing lots of... well unsmooth blending etc.

I took a clip here just to help illustrate what I mean.
    Is this normal?
Hope it isn't much to ask but could you download the trailer and compare this clip and see if it's meant to be so or if my TV is wack.

also could you recommend me a good calibrating dvd.

    PSN trailer short clip:

the issue isn't always so dramatic but i've noticed it on 2 or 3 other occassions. Also i'm very unsure with the colouring if i have done an okay job with the settings. and thirdly i've used that image to see if i have to use limited rgb or full and to my understanding the tv supports full but i'm a little uncertain if i did it right.

Could you run it by me again.

Come on people if you want Reflex's help PM him, there is no reason to make a thread directed towards one person.

Like ive said before, Someone should sticky a "Ask a Question" thread in every category so threads like these will disappear.

Please. Use the FAQ topic in this section. PM'ing me is also a good idea!

But since you made the topic.... Yes its normal. Your TV might be to blame, but a lot of videos, even Blu-ray have this problem IN the content, or ON the disc, or ON the downloaded file, often it isn't a problem with your TV. But rather with whatever you are trying to specifically watch.

Its called banding, without getting too deep into specifics............ color banding can be a huge problem with poorly made or created transfers or digital visuals. Even Film has this problem when transferred onto disc if they are not careful. Its a nasty thing to see, I agree......

I know my TV has no banding issues, so maybe I'll download that video later and see for myself, it could just be the video.

But yeah... its banding. Don't worry about it.

It isn't the best description, its to the point, but it doesn't go into details. If I had time I would tell you more... hopefully someone else can. But this is indeed your problem, but again, it might not be the TV, a lot of those videos have that issue. Even Blu-ray discs and DVDs.

This is something I forget to add to the FAQ, but please next time ask it in there.

    wow,

to the first 2 posters. I'm sorry i wasted 2 seconds of your precious life in clicking my thread. I'm further sorry that you felt you had to waste an extra 30 seconds replying to my thread in an attempt to release your frustration.

Anyhow, I made a thread asking a single person here a question due to the fact other people here might have a similar issue but don't know how/who or where to ask. Having a thread about it might increase their chance in finding an answer with a search button.

but honestly, what's the problem with the thread? is it offending anyone in any way? I never said only reflex may respond. Anyone with usefull information is welcome i just know first hand that REFLEX has a clue.

And if it's such a scandal that this thread is here it'll anyways be lost in archive within a few days so cut me some slack.

And REFLEX thanks for the response.

Next time just make it a general title instead of singling out a user.

i remember reading somewhere that you can mess with the settings in your ps3 when watching movies to make the banding less noticeable or go away completely.
