Gamespot still shows NO LUV for the PS3?

gamespot has yet to give a ps3 exclusive a 9 or higher(not counting NG:S). i thought with the release of MLB08 the show we would have finally seen a 9 score or higher. nope. gamespot still refuses to show any love towards the ps3. ive said a LONG time ago that the ps3's first 9 or higher will be MGS4. i bet they wouldnt even give that a 9 if it wasnt for the huge amount of backlash they would receive. sad really since i could name a few ps3 exclusives that deserve a 9.

i dont not wish for a flame thread. i jus wanna know how some of my fellow ps3 owners feel about this. if someone can prove me wrong then i would like the mods to delete.

I think Gamespot is to worried about their staff leaving them reviewing games. Brad just left yesterday or so, so they probably got the guy who cleans the floors at night reviewing games.

Lot's of folks feel the same way. I was most shocked at the Ratchet & Clank review a while back. Watch them review MGS poorly as well, probably including a statement that it will be better when it comes out on the 360. Which it obviously won't. I think you get my point.

I agree, stopped using it a long time ago.

To the OP, just stop using that site. The problem will solve itself as more people leave, as they loose more advertising dollars, and finally shuts down.

I talked about the exact thing on another thread, but it was about IGN. The "it will be better when it comes out on the 360" comment is more than enough to let us know that they don't like the PS3, period. It might sound like a conspiracy to some, but how can they ignore proof like this?! They just wanna give the PS3 bad reviews so that the bad press drive sales down, but of course, we all know that won't happen just because lazy programmers keep releasing games half-finished and then blaming the PS3 because it was "hard" to program on it. What kind of programmers are they? I'm a programmer and I don't run away from something just because it's difficult, that's just pathetic! Like Valve, they might have created the Source engine, but from the comments they made about programing in the PS3, it's amazing to think there are still programmers that expect everything to be handed on a frigging platter!

I use to always use that site for reviews. Until that situation came up where someone got fired for leaving a negative review for Assassins Creed I think it was. I started realizing how bias their ratings are. Ratchet and Clank FTOD 7.5. wtf!?

i feel like a fool for letting their ratings help me pick my games in the past.

i dont really use that site as much as i use to. i guess a complete write-off would be best though. i only check it for this very reason though. i jus wanna see how long they will hold out on us. i cant believe its been this long and still no 9s. unacceptable if you ask me.

and yes, R&C:FToD 7.5 is bull****. i wont name other games on other consoles for flaming reasons.

GS was slagged off for the percieved sacking of one of their employees at the behest of an advertiser, this rumor stated that it was directly related to an honest review of their product.

we were naturaly concerned

how is that any different than people on these forums slagging them off for not giving a PS3 game a 9?

It is a review site, they should give the games the score that they feel a game should get regardless of who they upset.

these threads to a disservice to this community.

I really don't like that site anymore. I've seen them bash a lot of stuff concerning PS3 games, especially Devil May Cry 4. They're not worth my time and neither is a gaming magazine of which is so biased towards the PS3 that its ridiculous. I buy games based on honest reviews from gamers who did play the game.

Actually, the game was Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. Eidos had paid gamespot a ton of money for advertisements. At one time, the entire site was skinned with Kane and Lynch stuff. Then the guy gave an honest review, Eidos got pissed and took their ads off, and Gamespot fired the guy. I forget his name.

Anyways, the majority of site members left for good after that. Gamespot always leaned pro MS, but now that everyone is gone except the fanboys, they have become extremely anti PS3 (and Wii for that matter)

Anyway, best thing to do to show GS your dissatisfaction is to STOP GOING TO THE WEBSITE. You must know that they are making money every time you browse their website so I don't understand why you still support them. Complaining on a forum isn't going to do much when you are probably making more people check out their site which increases their revenue even more.

I simply use Gamespot as a portal to finding a game, letsay i just hear the name of it. Then gamespot is easy to locate it.

my point is simply that up untill the K&L review seems to have allowed their reviewer to give their opinion on the games without interferance.

surely we can all agree that is how it should work, after all these reviews are the opinion of an individual and are not meant to be representative of any organisations financial desires.

If they sacked the reviewer (or asked him to give better marks to a game because it came from one system) because of pressure from online forums it would be just as bad as if they did it due to pressure from a software publisher.

I mean do you feel that the reviewers should have given a game a higher mark than they honestly felt it deserved?

now it is fair to discuss whether you feel that a review matches with your opinion of a game but it is unreasonable (and illogical) to say that a review is wrong or should have given a better score .

I use Gamespot for their PC gaming coverage. For some reason they just really get it right with PC gaming and have interesting articles. Their console staff sucks complete arse, though.
