Message to User:Original Post:there is no reason to call another member a douche bag.you sir, are a douchebag.Oh, I'll probably start at about never o'clock. Rockstar has already lost my GTAIV business, and if they keep it up, I might boycott them altogether. I have been fed up for a long time with publishers delaying release dates just to garner more media coverage. I decided that once a release date is announced, if the publisher delays the release (unless they have a really good explanation), I will not buy that game. I'm not going to be jerked around by publishers or developers, and I certainly am not about to encourage dishonest (and downright annoying) marketing tactics. Don't announce a release date unless you're sure you're going to release it on that date, it's pretty simple. I remember once at a restaurant during a blizzard, waiting well over an hour for my food and complaining to the manager. He argued that they had a hotel full of people next door who were stuck in town because their flights were canceled and that was why I had to wait so long for my food. I asked him why that should matter to me. If you can't serve me, then don't seat me. That's restaurant management 101 right there. I went on to answer my own question for him and explain to him, loudly enough for the neighboring diners to listen in if they so wished, why I got seated when I couldn't be served.
"When I came in here, I asked how long the wait was. You knew that you couldn't serve me for over an hour. You also knew that if you were to tell me that the wait was more than an hour, I would probably leave, and since I am here with a party of four, you would lose about $100 in business. Because of the blizzard, you're short-handed tonight, meaning that although you couldn't serve me, you did have empty tables, so
you could theoretically seat me, knowing that I would not get service for over an hour.
Rather than risk being honest with me about the wait, resulting in me leaving, you decided to seat me, knowing that since I would have no way of knowing that my food wasn't being prepared, I would sit there assuming my food was about to come out and that eventually I would get my food and you would make $100. You also knew that if I were to complain, you could always explain that the wait was because of all the people stuck at the hotel next door. You also assumed--now here's where you went wrong--that because we are young, we are also stupid or willing enough to tolerate your dishonesty or incompetence. So when the time came that we did complain, you gave us your little sob story about the people next door, falsely assuming that you were not dealing with creatures of logic and that your fallacious argument would appease us. Since we are not the type of people you assumed us to be, we are quite capable of figuring out that your argument explains only why you were not able to serve us, but does not address the much more relevant question of why you chose to seat us when you knew you could not serve us. Unfortunately for you, I have already answered that question for you and now you're left in an awkward position, having been called out for being either dishonest or incompetent in front of several tables. Knowing that what you decide to do next may slightly affect your future business, and hoping to end this conversation before it gets any louder or more revealing, you will undoubtedly decide that the safest thing to do is to zero out our bill."
It turned out I was right.
