Here is the summary
The only thing that really needed fixing was the shooting. Consider it fixed. The balance of missions between shootouts and random type errands seems to reflect that. On top of that, GTA IV’s driving feels more realistic than before and for car enthusiasts that’s a good thing. If driving bugs you take a cab. Controlling Niko can experience occasional weirdness indoors at times too.
You do have to make some concessions when you’re making an open world game. But GTA IV does about as good of a job as you could imagine. Sure there’s some graininess at points and the blurry distances can be off putting under the wrong conditions, but on the whole the game is an artistic triumph from a design point of view.
The voice acting is so good, that you’ll be glad they chucked the big name actors. They would have been a distraction anyway. The radio is as great as ever, with funny ads and talk radio nuttiness, and the music selections will turn you on to at least one thing you’ve never heard before.
It’s not just multiplayer that helps this out, though it really does help. The fixed co-op missions can be played over and over again with friends, and the regular story line is worth playing through at least twice, if just to see both endings
It’s amazing that a sequel that keeps the core gameplay concepts of its prior incarnations can do so much to change itself into something new. Cabs are awesome, as is the cellphones capabilities. But perhaps the biggest innovation is the notion that you can create a game that’s as valid a piece of art as any book or movie. Is this our “Citizen Kane” moment?

I just watched a dude do a line lock and burn the rubber straight off the rear wheels - awesome

And Thin Lizzy 'Jailbreak' was playing on the car radio as well - that was too cool!!!
He has gone into the comedy club now - all fun and games in there...FM3/Borderlands

Im stoked to play this game now. Once I saw it being played it was really a wake up call that this game is very special. I was not expecting GTA4 to be more then san adreas with better graphics and a few new quirks, but the game just looks 2x better then anything any of the other games offered. Im very critical of gta games when it comes to shooting mechanics, physics, character interaction, AI, world realism. I just never thought any of those things were up to par to what could be done, and really I thought rockstar might not have been the people to deliver what the series really needed. Guess I was wrong.
