it is definantly a must buy for me. if it is released when im not in school and theres a midnight launch ill be there. about saving pc gaming, i personally dont think it needs saving. there are enough die hard pc gamers out there, and in my opinion there are some games i would just not play on a console (not just rts). but other than that, it will be a killer game, cant wait.

Starcraft will be huge, in true blizzard style. Blizzard games have magical appeal.

Not at all. Starcraft 2 will be pirated just as much as any other game.

i cant wait, thats all i can really say. im still playing starcraft brood war on battle net and its still fun. whats it been 10 years since sc launched now? not sure. anyway though, about the pirating thing, i dont know much about pirating games but if u get an illegal copy would you still be able to play on battle net? i mean im sure a cd key generator would let you install it but i dont think you could play on line.

Lol. You can't play COD4 or Crysis online when it's been ripped\stolen "Supposedly", yet Infinity Ward expressed sadness and amazement at how many cracked serial keys were being played online.
Thus why they don't concentrate on the PC platform.

i would think blizzard would be more concerned as in time, after people get their fill of the story line, starcraft 2 will be mostly an online game.

1. PC Gaming is not dieing, far from. Lets see die-hard console fans diss PC games in 3 years, when the PS3 and XBOX 360 hardware has been wayyy outdated.
3. Starcraft 2 will be awesome.

Playing up to date games will cost more, but now we are diving into the money aspect. We all pay a small price to enjoy gaming, some more willing than others. Let us not forget that you have to buy a control, the games, and other accessories.
Oh, people want a big 52 inch HDTV also.
I guess it came it to the same price at the end, =p.

Starcraft will never be as big as Warcraft - because it's target audience isn't t women as well as men (Unlike WoW for instance)

1. Incorrect. While perhaps "Dying" isn't the best way to describe it- PC gaming is definitely not doing "Good". The piracy problems which plague that platform are reaching critical mass. Developers readily recognize that consoles are a more lucrative and stable market (Like Crytek and Infinityward). Follow the money.
2. In 3-4 years the PS4 and Xbox 720 will be out. What's your point?

Uh...I don't know what you're talking about, but Starcraft was the Warcraft before WoW was Wow. Game has sold over 9 million copies worldwide and still has a following...it truly is an RTS phenomenon.
At the very least, it is the benchmark, balance wise, that most other RTS games strive t achieve, or should, IMO.
and @ above...like I said above, Starcraft is the type of game that has unprecedented longevity. It will enjoy this longevity, and because of Battle.net, more than likely persevere through the piracy. At the very least, it will do better than most other games. You can enjoy the rich plot through piracy sure, but the replay value comes from the user-generated content and online multi-player.
In fact, the only reason I haven't pirated the original is because I was never able to find a way to play online without a legit CD Key. Things change though, so who nows what the future holds."My strategy has to be tragedy, catastrophe, and after this you'll call me your majesty..."

I'll buy SC2 as I have some good memories with its predecessor.
However, I believe this game will be nowhere close to the level of redefining computer gaming. If anything, being able to emulate the experience I had with SC should be the greater goal IMO."It's real hard to be free when you are bought and sold in the marketplace.

Of course, don't ever tell anybody that they're not free, 'cause then they're gonna
get real busy killin' and maimin' to prove to you that they are." ~Easy Rider (1969)

1. This is true that the industry itself is hurting (money wise based on piracy), but doesn't sway from the fact that there are still plenty of PC gaming fans. Over the years we have seen many PC platform games dip into the console business, which I am glad about in every way, but bottom line, I prefer my keyboard and mouse. I wish I had a PS3 or an XBOX 360, but it seems I have squandered the money towards my PC (which is still not even new), haha. It won't die from the PC gamers perspective, but probably in the perspective of the industry (IE: the pockets of these companies).
2. You will probably spend 800 dollars for that PS4 and XBOX 720.
3. Will they call it XBOX 720? Cliche.

A large fanbase for a platform (PC in particular, less so for consoles) is not indicative of financial success or assurance. Typically you'd think it would be- and for consoles it probably is.
But as mentioned, with the PC you have rampant piracy. You have plenty of "PC users" and "PC Gamers". But the overhead cost of developing a cutting edge game which "Fits" for all the variables of the PC builds in addition to grappling with piracy is simply not delivering like the console market is.

Some tool already tried turning a thread into a "PC gaming is dying" idea. If you care to discuss that, the thread is still open somewhere down the list.
As far as Starcraft 2, its a must buy for me as well.
