Ok its been out a few days now for us Euros and I’m just angry about this game!
Everyone seems to be going on about what a great game it is – and thats the annoying thing. I want it to be but its just frustrating to play.
BF: Modern Combat on the PS2 was a great game so I’m a fan but this new version is just full of things wrong with it.
Tanks: It takes up to 6 Anti-tank RGPs to take down one tank. Anti-tank RPGs are just that... ‘Anti-tank’ and they aren’t in this game. It takes a few of you to work together to take down a single heavy tank!... ...But one C4 and the tank is history – I just don’t get it???
The heavy tank has 100 amour – the light tank with each direct hit on a heavy tank takes off only 5, so thats 20 hits with a light tank!
The tank itself is pretty useless. absolutely no blast radius for its shells. You have to directly hit infantry to kill them or get within two virtual feet"
To simply shoot someone it can sometimes take a full clip before they drop! Ok some of its lag but its just way to long to track a target.
The sniper has the laser-designator thing. Since when do you have to pilot a laser-designated missile? Not to mention that, but if you get killed after you activate the missile the missile just disappears!
Then there’s this frostbite engine – ok I understand we can’t flatten the buildings – fine but if I shoot a tank shell into a room full of bad guys I expect them to die – not sit there un-hurt. If I shoot at a sniper with a with a tank shell and he hides behind a wooden post for protection I expect him to die – not be invincible behind the indestructible wooden post!
Then there’s the actual issues with online options
12 people per team but you can only talk to three of them? BF is meant to be a team game – why can’t we talk to the entire team?
Can’t choose room ; can’t choose host a room ; can’t make rooms for clan matches ; can’t kick team-killers ; can’t choose sides – all the basics really! Plus no clan support.
Its a shame – I think BF is great but EA have fooked it up IMO.
Yeah patches are coming but its going to have to be a big patch to fix these problems.
Rant over. Don’t flame me – I just wanted to give another side to the story instead of this ‘great game’ rubbish.
I will say however that I still play it in the hope that some issues are going to get resolved. It is fun to play but so frustrating as well.

BF: BC was a let down for me.
I 100% agree with you EightyEight. When I shoot a round from a tank at a damn wall, I expect that wall to be GONE. Nope. It's still there. That alone blew the game for me. The only recent game to do this correctly was a fairly old (5 yrs old) pc game called Soldner, which didn't fare very well because of huge amount of problems with it, but excellent concept ideas.
The game still has the BS battlefield damage system, takes a whole magazine to kill someone.

The game was made by Dice and published by EA, aswell as hosting the servers. So all the game mechanics are not EA's fault. They are dice's.

The money is from EA. To me it has EA written all over it, “Where can we save money?... I know we’ll bring up those dusty Pentium II PCs from the basement and use those as the servers”
“Game testers? Nah, we’ll test it. Put a Beta out so people think we are listening”

I agree with some of your points and disagree with others.
Lots of people seem to be complaining about unloading "a whole clip" into people to kill them. Unless you're aiming for their big toe, that's not the case.
True, the tanks have very little blast radius, but if it was life-like, infantry would stand absolutely no chance against it.
I like how you have to guide the laser-designated bomb, otherwise it would be an extremely easy instant kill. Plus, if the drivers get out, you can still guide the bomb to
another vehicle or infantry.
I agree with the squad talking. It's pretty stupid how you can't even talk to someone that's right next to you if they're not in your sqaud.
I completely agree with the lack of normal online features.
It's still fun to play though, but there's even more problems. Like the massive lag people were experiencing yesterday, and the lock-ups (I don't call it 'freezing', because after about 15 seconds [in which you're already dead] it starts working again).

yep couldn't agree more... I tried to like it but the more I played it the more I hated it. The sniping is bad aswell. To get a kill it has to be a headshot,(for the most part) so when I shoot the same place on the head 3 times and miss I get pissed off. The the 4th time it hits and doesnt kill the person. The lag is gettin pretty bad which makes a bad game that much worse.
I'm goin to return it tomorrow!

Correction: It takes two anti-tank RPG shots to take a tank.
Yes, this game can get fustrating sometimes, but the online is very, very, VERY fun if you get used to it. I almost thought about returning it myself, but when you play online and you actually play go through the motions, its hard to put down in my opinion. I can't wait for the patches to come.... there are just too many things I like about this game for me to Trade it in.

I'm hoping they will fix most with a patch. Still enjoying it though, with all the faults I see. That's MO and everyone has one.

Honestly, I found Battlefield: Bad Company to be one of the worst shooters I'd ever played.
It had some quite good stuff, but it has more flaws than any game I've ever played. There was just something fundamentally WRONG about huge swathes of it.www.freerice.com - 20 grains of rice donated per answer

Apperently a main reason for no universal chat was to do with connection stablity and the problems it would cause, as well as they tested it and found that it didn't suit the way they wanted the game to be played.

I strongly disagree (but respect your opinions) with all your points , this game is absolutely brilliant online. My only tiny niggle is the mics cut out but this will be fixed in due course as i have faith in DICE .
I still haven't even tried single player as online is so damn good. The teamwork has to be seen to be believed and now 4-5 days after release people (including me) are starting to get to grips with tactics and the layout of the huge maps making for some incredibly tense battles.
Looking forward also to the soon to be released Conquest mode from the original Battlefields but in all honesty Goldrush mode has taken me by surprise in just how bloody good it is .
The game is so good i would happily shell out a fiver for a couple more maps right away.

Another thing I’ll point out is that the sniper is not a one shot kill anymore unless its a headshot. The only game I know thats like this.
And like someone else has pointed out – grenades disappear mid flight if you die after you throw it. The only things that remain in play is land mines. If you die at least they still remain.
The unloading a full clip seems random. Sometimes its a full clip, sometimes its only a few rounds.
I understand about the tanks. I know it can’t be lifelike but its just a little extreme that there is no blast radius what-so-ever.
And yep I had the freezing problem last night for the first time – couldn’t believe it! 20 seconds stood there then it unfroze and I was dead lol
When it comes to RPGs there are weak spots on the tanks and it is possibly to take it out with 3 RPGs. Believe me I’ve tried. I’ve walked around a tank RPGed it then got in to check its health. Weak points are obviously the rear. Takes off just under a third on a heavy tank. so it works out as 3 rockets to get it down under 10% a forth will kill it. The numbers change when the tank is moving but two RPG is impossible. It was 3 RPGs on BF:MC which felt right.
I can’t see how you can disagree with all my points. I’m stating the facts in most cases. Its still fun to play but after a couple of hours (at the most) the game becomes to frustrating to play.

I have a lot of multiplayer experience and honestly finde Battlefield great game with outstanding online feel. For me it is best online game that ps3 have. COD4 is great but after BB the apeal dropt enourmosly. Those maps are just too small and the "WALL" is allways very close.
About balance. You can like it or dislike it and I finde it resonable.
p.s. I am new to console world, originaly I am PC gamer and fan of Battlefield 2. Battlefield2 for me is king of all multiplayer games.

Thankfully those are small problems that can all be fixed with a patch. I personally love this game. Blows the doors off of the noobie mode COD4. The maps are insane, and just a fricking blast to play.
The only problems I have is sometimes the sound will cut out, completely (which can be patched) and no online lobby. But usually the games are pretty full anyway, and even games with less people are fun since its basically vehicle wars!
Gameplay is great and everything is pretty balanced, if the tanks had larger splash damage, they would be unstoppable! They are already pretty hard to kill, you want to make them harder to kill?

I'm not experiencing any issues as the thread starter stated, it can't really be that different from version to version can it?

i like how you feel like ur in an actual war, but this game is pissing me off so bad... first the sounds pretty much mutilate my crappy old digital 24" tv as well as grafics wise its hard to see whos who on a non hd tv... and worst of all that makes me angry is all the stupid laggy games, you notice it the most when you hop in a tank and it is glitching forward and backward and when looking around it glitches back to the facing you were 2 seconds before, and hell the shooting... either sofar every server ive played is horribly laggy or something is wrong on my end (and it never is, dont lag on any other game), i will ambush someone shoot them 10 times with an m4 and they turn around and 1 shot me. I mean what the hell, I was right behind them close enuff to get almost every single shot to hit, and nothing hits. its really pissing me off, like everyone is made of steel except me.

Im going to pick up Battlefield Bad Company very soon because Im a veteran of the previous Battlefield games. From 1942 to 2. (Did not pick up 2142 because it sucked *** as well as the last gen console version) I played the **** out the demo but I don't know much of the final product. I except no less then what I experienced so far.
The balance to me is completely perfect. Those complaining about blast radius should know this, as a Anti-tank soldier, your role is to seek out and destroy tanks. It's good that the blast radius isn't so big, it forces you to asses the situation with a different tactic when you are up against infantry. Your shotgun is there as a defensive weapon when your around corners stalking tanks so you shouldn't play GI joe unless your up close and personal.
Assault is perfect for mid range capablities for just about every situation except against tanks. Don't even try, just run for your life.
For snipers, don't even bother putting yourself in the middle of the battlefield, Just pick a spot and aid troopers by clearing out those that are in their way. 2 shot kill is good because normally that is the default amount of bullets it takes to down someone unless they are headshots. The gun itself is completely steady so I don't understand why anyone would complain about the sniper.
I know alot of people are frustrated about the gameplay itself, but you should take note that this is a hybrid RPG (By that I mean you have a role to pick and when you are taking that role, you are playing rock paper sissors)
So Welcome to the world of Battlefield.
It's certainly not a perfect game, I'll give you that, but the fun factor has allowed me to enjoy this more then every other multiplayer I experienced besides Unreal Tournament.
Any other fans of this series wish to hook up Add me as FailedEXE.
