Lurkers just want to lurk. Don't they help generate ad revenue just by coming here and looking around and reading posts? If they want to say something, they can always register. I'm not sure making them register just for the sake of having more registrations buys us anything. Then again, maybe it would encourage them to join in the convos. Meh....not sure.

That's one of the reasons, probably the main reason, to not force registration. Like I said, some will... I am pretty sure though, that more will not visit any more due to being required to register.

    Agreed.

I would have a "well $#@! you then" attitude to a forum that made you register just to view it. And I imagine most people are the same.

If you're adding something to it, that would most likely be fine. Simply just bumping threads would be considered spam. That's my opinion on it, so you might take that with a grain of salt. It'll be at the discretion of the staff. If you have an example, that would be easier to help ya with something a little more specific.

    For example:

This is a thread I "bump" every 1000 posts that I make, also adding any other information that relates to the topic:

    http://www.psu.com/forums/showthread...ccomplishments

Last "bump", was 4 weeks in between the last post and the newest post.

I've replied via PM to your query regarding your thread.

But its as F34R stated. Endlessly bumping threads without any contribution will be treated as spam.

Just went through the thread... yikes.

For me, again, just my own opinion, that's easily considered spam.

Here are the rules you're looking for:

    http://www.psu.com/forums/showthread...linary-process

3.4 Keep the forums clean of useless, distracting material. (No spamming/advertising)
:: Do no use PSU as an avenue of advertising or the self promotion of other sites, blogs, Youtube channels, etc. Spam also includes posts that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic and posting multiple posts or threads on the same subject. Repetitive material, whether text or images, may also count as spam.

I put the text in bold that would apply to your question.

I think it's fine where it is. It's all about the game rewards. They aren't really associated with actual PSN.

But they are associated with vita and now with ps4. Even on ps3 they are below psn now.

I understand that part, but when you're getting them, and posting about it, it's more reserved to the actual game.

At the forum's bottom it lists the number of members and active members. What is the minimum criteria for a member to be considered active? One post a month? A year? Merely logging in?

It is done from a registered member visiting the forum; and that is based on a number of days that is specified. Default setting is "30" days. So, it would show "active" members as any registered member that has visited the forums in the past 30 days.

Green pips are your reputation "level" basically. Hover over them:

The stars are your post "level". The more posts you make, the more stars you'll earn.
Rep power is how much a members reputation will increase when you give them some love. Go to UserCP and scroll down just a tad, and you'll see the rep box. It shows how many points you have earned, and the latest posts/threads you've been given rep.
The points are used in the store, to buy the icons and other forum things... you can also give points to someone in the design corner to make you a sig, av, etc.

Go to the top of the page and you'll see "Quick Link". Click on that and you'll see the vBShop option. Give it a click-a-roo and you'll head on over to the shop and check out the different items you can "purchase" with those points.

Here's a quickie on how to use the shop:

They don't want people using it, but do you have adblock? As I'm on chrome with it and am not having any problems.

I don't think so. Strangely it only happens when I log in. If I want to use the forum I must stay logged out but obv can't post then.
