Wanted Future Features for PS3 (Besides 2.41 & Home)

What do you want next for the PS3, not including the current 2.40 and the fixes on 2.41 aswell as home. I would personally like to have some software on the ps3 that you can use in the background to record videos while ingame directly onto the hdd aswell as screenshots. One last thing is being able to play internet radio without being on the browser preferably able to play during a game like in game music will/does. Ide appreciate it if none of the dumb console war stuff leaks into this thread like it seems to in every other, keep this PS3.

As for me, I want to see them get voice chat working in-game. The in-game VOIP on most games is just terrible, plus it would just be neat to talk to a friend while you both play a game in SP, or maybe two different games.

Yh that would be cool, I never even knew there was a firmaware section I guess it should go there but im not nessercarily talking just firmware im also intrested in new hardware for the ps3.

I would like to see the media side of the PS3 completely revampted.

I use my PS3 as a media streaming device (as much as i do for playing games), connected to a very large server PC.

At the moment it is a real pain in the ***** to navigate through the thousands of folders and files i have to find what i want.

I have over 150 GB of music and over 3 TB of videos (and growing rapidly). At the moment the PS3 only displays them in a massive, alphabetical list which takes ages to scroll through.

I think they need to look into organising this much better and adding more features, such as playlists for music over the network.

In-Game XMB but as a menu bar ingame, most of the screen game, 1/8 of the screen (top like menu bar) XMB for video chat or a instant messaging box like in MGO but with your PSN friend while in game.

Even if it just had a search option or even a list of selectable letters of the alphabet to jump to it would be an improvement.

Instead, i have to hold the down button for about 3 or 4 minutes just to get to the folder i want!

The ability to send voice messages over in-game XMB instead of type all the time I don't have a keyboard yet so a 15sec+ voice message like 360 would be nice.

Private chat while in a game if your playing 1 game and your friend is playing another private chat would be nice. More flash & shockwave support for the browser and it has the ability to load up the page properly some sites don't load up icons are ontop of others.

More in-game music support.

More games to support In-game music & trophies, like everyone else. I'd also like to be able to record gameplay like you can in SKATE (so it records everything automatically without you telling it to, I mean), but without such a short time limit. Full BC for PS2 games, with in-game XMB (plus music) for PS1 & PS2 games. Maybe in-game web browser, but it's not important. But I don't expect any of it, at least not any time soon.

External/removable battery packs on the controllers would be nice, so I can use the same controller and alternate barreries, but that ship's sailed.

I'd just like to be able to pause music that I'm listening to whilst using the browser, like before the 2.4/41 FW updates. That mini control panel for music that you have to use doesn't have the controls that you would expect, like play/pause and scan. I can't really understand the reasoning behind this design.

basically i want the future updates to have everything xbox live has. ive had a ps3 since the day it launched and love it, and just got a 360 in march 08 and the live is awesome..being able to chat with someone while u r playing a game without talking to the other people in the game is awesome...
