GDC London : October event announced

The Game Developers' Conference is set to return to London this year as part of the London Games Festival in early October, with the organisers of the event today announcing a two-day conference which will run on October 3rd and 4th.

GDC London will be held at the headquarters of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in Piccadilly, and will expand on the "What's Next" theme being expounded at GDC 2006, which is taking place this week in San Jose, California.

The event follows last year's GDC Europe, which took place in the Cafe Royal - just a few minutes away from BAFTA - and was widely hailed as a major success by organisers and attendees alike.

GDC London will be organised directly by CMP Game Group's GDC director Jamil Moledina with the support of GDC's European advisory board, and this year will be a part of the wider London Games Festival week, which also includes ELSPA and TIGA's Game Summit and Content Market events and BAFTA's videogames awards.

"The GDC is excited to join the major UK game organizations as part of the London Games Festival," Moldeina commented today. "We know this week of critical events will bring unity to the UK games community and underscore the importance of the UK in the worldwide games industry."

The London Games Festival will run at venues throughout the capital from Monday, October 2nd, and is being organised by bodies including ELSPA, TiGA, BAFTA and the London Development Agency.
