An idea to help improve The Design Corner?

My personal opinions are not endorsed by PSU. But they should be.

Seems like a good idea to me, instead of having it all scattered.

It’s only been hours since I last heard your voice-
your beautiful voice but already I miss you.

I think there should also be a graphics general section for things that don't fit in the other sections

It could work.
Here are the categories I think would work best:
-Signature/Avatar Requests
-Graphics Help
-Contests
-Showcase
-Other [may not be needed]
gruddy gruddy gruddy gruddy

SOTW doesn't fit into any of those sub-sections. Plus my main problem with having all these sections is there will be too many, and they'll all die.

Maybe we could add a tutorial section. Ive been wanting one of those. I mean, we have a good amount of tutorials in the dc section, and some of them are non sig related. And i can even get permission from some people on different websites to post their tut in the tut section. I was think kinda like this, where we'd have the design corner, but no threads in the design corner, and we would have sub sections in the dc where all the theads and topics, posting, voting, competetions, ect are discussed.
Design Corner
--------------
No threads in Design Corner, only sub sections
Subsections
------------
-Competitions
-Requests
-Tutorials
-Resources (like for brushes, psd's, renders, c4d's, ect..everyone should know that)
-Other Art (like for large art, portraits, wallpaper, paintings, ect..)come at me bro

I think how it is now it fine, possibly add a help section but I think..
-Design Corner (Design chit-chat, showing art off and other misc things here)
---Sig/Avy Request
---Signature Battles/Competitions
---Design Help
----Photoshop (Possible)
----GIMP (Possible)
Help section would include guides, FAQs, tutorials, resources. Maybe split for Photoshop and GIMP users.

Xelis, if we have a photoshop or gimp section, what would be discussed? psd's or just tips? tips and tricks, and that stuff would go under help. I could be wrong though.

I think
GFX General
Requests
Battles/Competitions
Art showoff (maybe)
Resources (maybe)
If you need help with something just ask in gfx general, there aren't that many help topics that go up.

Good point Coolio, I've only seen a few different questions about photoshop in the Design Corner.

It’s only been hours since I last heard your voice-

Seven sections is overkill, it should be kept to a minimum, cause alot of those sections wouldn't be used.
GFX Showoff - Same as General Art Showoff
Requests
Competitions/Battles
Tutorials (Possibly a sub section of resources.) - Hardly anyone posts tutorials now.
General Art Showoff (Photography, large photoshop pieces, etc.)
Resources (C4D's, brushes, etc.) - Hardly anyone posts resources now
GFX Advice, Tips and Techniques - This would be the same as tutorials and resources.

people could get permision to post a tut for a sig, or nonrelated from a bunch of different websites. i know we have some nonrelated sig tuts along with related sig tuts.

Well, I reckon that the original idea was the best.
Showcase
It's pretty obvious what this sub-forum could be used for. If you have ANY kind of art that you want to show off, be it photography, scanned-in sketches or paintings or modern art such as Photoshop, GIMP, etc. then this would be the place to do it and get it rated.
Graphics Requests
I really don't need to explain this, do I? It's exactly the same as the current 'Sig/Avy Requests' sub-forum, but extended so people can request more than a signature or avatar, like banners for a website or even a web template itself.
Graphics Battles
Again, pretty obvious what this could be used for, but SOTW/SOTM/LAOTM could go in here. Wondering what LAOTM is? Large Art of the Month. I've seen it on another forum and thought it would be kinda cool to have it here too. Anyway, Graphics Battles is for all the competitive designers out there.
Graphics Resources
This one could work, or it could fail, it all depends how much people want to see it happen. I'd love to see it work though. Basically, any files which you guys use and/or recommend can be posted here. That includes brushes, renders, fonts, C4Ds and any old .PSD files you no longer need or you wish to share with the forum.
Just split the main forum into four sub-forums and see what happens from there. I really think it would work and would help people decide where to post their material.

My personal opinions are not endorsed by PSU. But they should be.

I would argue against that.
1. General art and GFX are two completely different things.
2. It could easily be encouraged for people to post tutorials for others to get help from.
3. Plenty of people could post resources, my self included.
4. GFX advice and tutorials are two completely different things.
Although, I do agree on your point of there being too many. This place doesn't have the design community it should have yet. Maybe some time later.
