No, not World at War -- the next Call of Duty.
By Kris Pigna, 08/02/2008
Firmly ending the notion that perhaps Call of Duty 4's tremendous success has afforded them the option to step away from annual releases, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has announced that his company is already planning to release the next Call of Duty in 2009. That'd be the one after the already announced Call of Duty: World at War, which is currently set for release this October.
The announcement came during a post-earnings release conference call yesterday (via Kotaku), where Kotick also said the series would continue to "leapfrog" between developers, suggesting that Infinity Ward would indeed be behind the 2009 edition (as Treyarch is currently hard at work on World at War). You may recall that Infinity Ward recently renewed their publishing deal with Activision, with community manager Robert Bowling saying that "[the new deal] has laid the ground work and kick started our future project, as well as the possibility of a unique new IP by Infinity Ward, that we'll have complete control over." Will this "future project" be yet another Call of Duty title for Infinity Ward? Sure seems that way, but it does make one wonder -- how long will the CoD franchise bandy between teams with annual releases before we someday hear of a Call of Duty Innovation Plan?
I wonder will Infinity Ward will be doing this one.

The next Call of Duty should be great - not World at War, as I am talking about the fifth installment. If they implement the ability to maintain and control vehicles and such (choppers, boats, jeeps, tanks, etc) that would make for endless, endless amounts of fun. Really, that would make the game extremely successful.

I, am, SICK of Call of Duty. They need to take a break for a year or 2, than go back.. The game plays pretty much teh exact same since the first one ( Yea, they threw in those horrible Perks.. but bleh, it just cheapens the game. )
