    Xbox 360 info!

haha.. this guy must want to get sued
this guy is a lot more informative that the girl from PMS who was probably still drunk when she did that interview. Akuma303x is the one given up all the info so look for his statements. He own a gamespot and that how he got his invitation. He gives up a lot of info and also says it's another guy that is going to be on later that know more than he do and he will also be spilling the beans. But for right now enjoy!!!

but im not sure? so ill be on the next 15 miinuites or so. any questions? i dont think the agreement matters anymore. all the info is online anyway. so yes i was there. it rocked. 360 is way more powerful then you guys are thinknig. ok it looks better then most you guys think. thats what i ment.

ok that's cool and I hope you'r not lying about having been there so 3 questions

    1. Is there a HDD
    2. Is the processor more or less than 4 Ghz
    3. Will it be relaesed in different colors

    1. it is an option. yes. we only got to play basic models. none had memory units attached.

2.the processors are not 4 ghz. none ever add up to it either. each one instead runs a differnt part of the system at 3ghz. but ill tell you this. no load times. ever. and the few developers who spoke, said the set-up is perfect for games. they never mentioned cell, but they said the 360 has all the power the nex-gen needs. and more! speecifically the japanese developers. they think the 360 has more power than they felt the nex-gen would. that got me really exited.

3.they are customizable. but the show only had a white or pearl, colored xbox. and it never turned green from the side. thats wrong. but it looks so good up close, you wont care. i swear it.

what are the graphics like in the games and how does the conroller feel?

the graphics give that feeling of excitment again. honestly they made my heart jump. the first game they allowed us to test was pdo. no jaggies, no load time, textures was soo amazing you could go up to an industrial beam, as your looking at it, the paints chippin off, the bolts are really there, rust even looks real. everything is 3-d. no flat surfaces here. and it has a much cleaner look than xbox. i mean the way 3-d objects look. like grass. it is grass. each blade. but my favorite was a movie clip of elder scrolls. just the pure size of that game will change the way you feel about game worlds. kameo is also looking better. how ever it still has that cartoony look, but more like a cg on a computer. the controller feels like the controller s. the main difference is the smooth face. its real smooth feeling. it gives it a grip feeling. a real good grip. best part though, the controllers from the 360 are a little heavier feeling then the s type. and no the xboxlogo doenst move. its just on the controller.

What are the extra features, like streaming music & movies on a wireless network to your xbox? What will xbox live be like?

    ]akuma303x
they only showed us the basic model. they then showed video of the 360 hd edition. how ever i did pick up on one thing the guy givin us a speech had said, the xbox 360 can play xbox 1 games at a higher resolution. i believe he said 720 standard for older games played through the 360. but it was not quiet in that place. ever. even when the moments of revealing something new came, everyone just kept playing games, and talking about how they cant believe they are playing a game that looks like this
So it will be backwards compatible. I will be getting the HD version that with burner and tivo capabilities. This is awesome news and only one more day until the unveiling.

He seems to believe loading times rely solely on the CPU which is.. well just not true and aside from a couple of other comments it seems pretty much what we already know.

    It's determined by serveral factors.

    1) Compactness of data on disc (Blu-Ray fits more data per square inch than DVD for example, so you can read more per revolution of the disc)

    2) Revolutions of the disc (the faster the disc spins, the faster it can read)

    3) Size of the disc (faster read speeds on the outer edge of a disc than the inner edge)

    4) Amount of Ram to fill (the more ram, the more you have to read to fill it)

    5) Development tools (if the development tools help the developers place the data more efficently for reading on the disc, it will greatly decrease load times)

Well I don't know about that but I notice the French mag's always get the scoop on next-gen consoles and revealing interviews before anybody else.

Siren if u dont mind , can u answer this question for me ... ( i dont trust those pre-teens trying 2 act like computer pros)
    Thanx ...

They say that the Xbox 360 will have an OS running as we'r playing a game, right ?? i mean its no official thing but , the button on the controller suggests that.
Along with that, they say that 512 MB of Ram would benough cuz the Xbox had 64 and it ran smooth , secondly its enough cuz there'd b no "background operations" going on like on a PC.
I dont remember where iread this, but i'm sure thats how it went.

So if the 512 MB of RAM will also b running an operatng system ... the games dont get a full 512 , or lets even say 500MB of RAM...
    Am i correct ??

It could be interrupt based, (having the OS swapped out to the HDD and brought back on an interrupt) however it is likely that it is running in memory (for faster switching) so the system as with a regular PC will not have full access to that memory, the OS will probably chew 32MB at most as it should be pretty heavily cut down from a PC style OS.

If they are attempting to do seamless game-> OS transfers then we are likely to have the OS in memory as well as something needs to monitor the system and provide cool graphical interference.

// pulling numbers from thin air btw, the OS should be pretty small but no ideas exactly... none of my courses have covered Game Console OSs yet!

Longhorn will run as a CE Kernel and not a full blown OS, the Xbox 360 is coming out in 2005 and Longhorn isn't due till 2007 so it's pretty much unlikely, running a CE with a few customizing options would be a better choice.

The Xbox360 is running a custom kernel based on the NT kernel. It is extremely light weight.

The UI you see is also extremely light weight. Maybe a meg or 2.

MS does not need to store the UI in the 512mb of Ram, but may be storing it there (not something I have asked about). They could easily have the UI stored and handled in a tiny little piece of side ram.

Yes the Xbox360 has an "OS" of sorts running the background. All consoles do. Even the NES did.

What the Xbox360 does is take it too a new extent though. It is nothing like having Windows running in the background, so comparisons to that are baseless at best.

Xbox360's OS runs in a tiny reserved portion of the CPU This is not visiable or accessible to developers, so it doesn't interfere with them at all. Same with any ram it uses. This is a first in a console. In the past developers had to work around the "OS" in the console. Yea, it was very little work, but with the Xbox360 this is no longer an issue. You can even play your music in the background on the Xbox360 and that is not interfering with developers available power and ram.

Interview on Frontlines: Fuel of War

Interview on Frontlines: Fuel of War

    Hey Justin-

I'm working with Frank to coordinate requests for interviews on Frontlines.
Will you send me along the questionnaire you wanted to answered so we can
work on getting it done. Once I see the questions I'll be able to give you a
better idea of when it should go up. Thanks.

    Rob
Can you guys post your top 3 best questions for the game or its features. I will compile a list along with my own to send him.

You can find the game in the previews section in your latest Game Informer Magazines. Also, here are a few links to info on the game:

Here are the questions I am sending:

    Frontlines: Fuel of War

Here are the questions I compiled with my co-staffers; hopefully the team can answer most of them. Once again, thank you so much for the opportunity for this interview!

    Questions:

    1. About how long has Frontlines: Fuel of War been in development?

    2. What are some advantages and disadvantages you are finding when developing on the PS3?

    3. How do the RPG-like elements of Frontlines affect the player?

    4. Do you plan on using the SIXAXIS controls in the game and if so, what are some examples?

    5. Will there be environmental destructibility to an extent of making your own path through a city?

    6. Will you be releasing any demos or content on the PlayStation Network before or after release?

    7. Recently I read that the Xbox 360 and PC versions will have up to 64 players online, will it be the same with the PS3?

    8. How many multiplayer modes will there be and will they be traditional online modes or do you plan on including a few new ones?

    9. Will there be split screen co-op?

    10. Do you plan on using the Blu-ray storage space to the PS3 advantage? To add to the question, will there be exclusive content in the PS3 version?

    11. What is the planned release date for Frontlines: Fuel of War?

    10. Anything else you’d like to add that I may have missed or don’t know about yet that may be a great announcement?

I saw Frontlines at E3 last year and it looked really good, but very similar to Ghost recon, SOCOM, Rainbow Six, Conflict, etc, etc.

You could ask them how Frontlines differentiates itself from the other sqaud-based shooters out there or is it just riding their coat tails?

In your split screen coop question ask if there is online coop as well.
I think PS3 should have a built in memory card!!!
