I consider myself a veteran at gaming. I've been playing for over 9 years. I know lots of stuff about gaming and I am a huge fan of the Dragon Warrior/Quest series. My favorite game so far is Dragon Guest VIII. What do you consider yourself to be in the gaming era?

Gaming Era: Where are you now?

I'd say I'm not a Veteran, but I know enough to make an intelligent argument with anyone about it. My all time favorite game is Legend of the Dragoon, but I actually prefer gory games above a good story.

Every game I play I suck it. I progress really slowly.

I think that one of the many things that make you a veteran is the fact that you always take a challenge. If not, you...*gasp*...wouldn't like to play videogames.

I have been playing games since i was 5, so it was 10 years ago, almost 11.
I remember that Christmas night when i got my bulky Game Boy with Super Mario World and Tetris...
On topic, i consider myself a veteran, as i played games for a long while, and i am able to play quite well every kind of game:
FPS, Beat em up, RPG, Adventure, Simulation, etc...
OVER.

I'm 21 years old. I was born literally 2 blocks away from the Nintendo of America Headquarters in Redmond Washington.
I've been gaming my whole life, and don't see a day when I will actually stop.

My first time I played a video game was when the NES came out. All Nes's came with Super Mario Bro. I also had Duck Hunt, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Contra. I then bought a Sega Genesis, which was awesome. After Genesis, I had a Game Boy, and Game Gear which was a Genesis type Game Boy.
After that, that's when Playstation took over......and many more years to come!

I remember playing my first games either on DOS or on Sega.

The gaming era keeps evolving. Consoles get better. Gamers finally start to make smart decisions on the games they buy and now I await news on the Nintendo Revolution...
Such a long time it has been since I picked up my first game (Tetris)....

I consider myself a very advanced dedicated gamer with no signs of slwoing down. I have onwed virtually every console and started on the NES at the age of 4 way back in 1989, and that was the turning point of my life down the road of video games.

I wouldn't consider myself a veteran at gaming. First time was playing jet Moto on my PS1, my first gaming console.

I only started playing games sinc ei was 13...i'm 20 now. SO seven years...but during that time i have played almost every good rpg out there from the nes era all the way to now. I don't keep up much with the industry now as i did back then since i have more respossibilities now, but i always try to find time to play.
I love Legend of the Dragoon, it was one of my favorite battle systems, and a good story too. It was the first rpg i played that had voice acting i was very impressed.

03-30-2006 #21I would agree with you perfectly gaming for lifeI'd consider myself a veteran. Even though I'm only 14, I've played the classics and have been gaming pretty much my whole life.

Realistically, I'd say I've been a hardcore gamer, for roughly 22 years now. I say "realistically" because even though I started playing videogames longer than that, I was pretty young back when I first started playing and at that age, you can't really be considered "hardcore". So when I say 22 years, that's 22 years of being a "hardcore" gamer - (which, in my opinion, means consistently buying/playing videogames pretty much on a daily basis.)
My first console was an Atari 2600 and it just went on from there.
I've owned every home console ever released since 1978 except for a few exceptions which I really didn't care for because the games didn't appeal to me. Those were:
Atari Jaguar
Atari Jaguar CD
Sega CD
Sega 32x
Besides those four, I've owned/own everything else that's ever come out. Even consoles most people (the younger crowd) probably never even heard of.
As far as handhelds, I never had much interest in them besides the odd game here and during class or when I was on lunch break. (Basically, if I didn't have any other option, I'd use a handheld)
Because of my lack of interest in handhelds, the only one's I've owned was the original GameBoy. The GameGear and by far my favorite handheld ever, the TurboExpress (even though battery life was only 1 hour)
So yeah, I guess you could say I'm a veteran gamer.
Games have changed so much since those days, it's unbelievable. It's scary to think how far gaming has come since then and I can't imagine how far technolgy will advance over the next two decades and beyond.
Should be interesting...

I also cosnider myself a veteran but that doesn't mean that i'm any good at least as of late , for example i used to be good at the clasics like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat but now i get my butt kicked by my 10 year old cousin , he only recently started playing and he already is very good at it , he is in the 30's ranking in Halo right now , i think as you get older your reflexs get slower . :P
