This would be a great idea for Nintendo Revolution, they would blow the Xbox 360 out of the water graphics wise and I know the memory information is correct.. everything that's been released about Nintendo since that guy on B3D posted all those posts about Revolution is eerily starting to fall in place, he said the Revolution would be very powerful and outpower the Xbox 360 and beat it graphically too, the stuff he said about Revolution online was the same things Nintendo have been sending hints about with their current surveys as well!

How do you think the quad-core compares with the cell?

Power PC 970's at 2.5GHz(which is the old Mac G5 processor) used to push out about 15-20 gigaflops each, I think they can glean 25 gigaflops out of each one and get upto 100 gigaflops out of the three combined compared to about 80-90 they should get out of the Xbox CPU's.
The cell prototype was configured at 256 gigaflops but the new one is about 384 gigaflops, I think they'll put in at least the 384 one but 512 gigaflops is possible.
In terms of power you can't really compete with the cell, you'd need ten PPC 970's to just match the weaker 256 gigaflops simbling, and about 15 to hit the 384 gigaflops but overall quad G5's is pretty mind blowing.
Disclaimer: Before anybody puts me on blast this is through personal speculation and what I know(which is little) about the CPU's to be used.[Currently looking for an applicable banner]

Man if everything that dude on B3D said is true the Nintendo Revolution will truly kick backside, it seems like it will have great graphics and the new revolutonary modes of play plus intelligent and FREE online services and its garnering the interest of a lot of developers.
If this all takes place Nintendo will guaruntee second posiiton and may even give Sony a good run for their money because frankly its quite mind blowing, I hope its not all BS and hype though because Nintendo have got me on my feet more than MS as of today and soon they'll have me going more than Sony as well, if they can deliver theyr dropping a nuclear bomb and there's not much you can do to counteract.[Currently looking for an applicable banner]

4 what? Christ, That's pretty fast isn't it. Man, these console makers should seriously think of Longhorn compatability in the longrun. I mean who won't like to buy a $300-$400 machine capable enough to run Longhorn at 60fps :P just kidding. But Quad cores is frikkin awesome. I wonder why Cell ppl are so quiet. Maybe they'll unveil something similar or double. Remember the cell shown earlier had 8 cores!!! M$ has 3 and Rev now claiming 4. Wow, I wonder who'll come on top this generation? very very interesting!

Some new Info. Sounds like its going to be very *edit* sleek..FIRST OFFICIAL REVOLUTION DETAILS SPIN OUT
Sleek, thin, horizontal, backwards compatible and online enabled - more details straight from Nintendo inside!
11:15 The Nintendo Revolution will be a sleek console that will come complete with wireless controllers, backwards compatibility and full online functionality out of the box, according to Nintendo.
Not to be outdone by Microsoft's MTV unveiling of the Xbox 360 and our exclusive report that Sony will reveal a near-complete version of the PS3 at next week's E3, Nintendo has decided to release the first official details of its next-gen machine.
Speaking to select members of the US mainstream press Perrin Kaplin, Nintendo of America's vice president for corporate affairs, described the Revolution as "very, very sleek."
She elaborated by stating that the console would sit horizontally, and compared its size to three DVD cases sitting on top of each other (about 5cm by 19cm). It's a huge departure from Nintendo's past console designs and signals a new desire to compete directly with Sony and Microsoft's slicker unit designs.
Other features confirmed for Revolution by Kaplin include wireless controllers and DVD playback. To allow for this new feature the console will use 12cm optical disks (that's the same size as a DVD-ROM) rather than the Cube's smaller proprietary disks.
Online play will be available out of the box and Nintendo will push this aspect of the Revolution extremely hard. More detailed plans about the Nintendo Online service are expected next week at E3, but wireless connectivity between DS and Revolution is also expected.
Perhaps most importantly for Nintendo fans, Kaplin confirmed that the Revolution would be backwards compatible with GameCube games. Microsoft is yet to announce whether you'll be able to play Xbox games on 360.
Kaplin also discussed new, next-gen games that would exploit high definition technology - clearly taking a lead from Xbox 360's emphasis on the 'HD Era'.
No further details about the console's release date, price, or much-debated gameplay revolution were revealed.
While numerous reports - including information passed to us last month - have suggested that the Revolution will not be present at next week's E3 in anything other than video form, these new official details suggest that we may see more of the console than expected.
Whatever happens, we'll bring you the news first.

It's sleek :P
Pretty much confirms what we already know, man the Revolution could turn out to be interesting, I admit I'm biased towards Nintendo but I always wandered what an fully 3D Mario or Link would look like and what super smash bros online would feel like on a powerful sleek small sexy Nintendo console, I bet a lot of you lot have too as much as you might deny it, I can't wait![Currently looking for an applicable banner]

I'm loving this whole situtation more and more. E3 can't come soon enough! I'm of the same mind Mak, I'm hella interested in the revolution now, much more so then the 360. From all the rumours it really seems as if the big N are on the right path back to their former glory.

@straightballin: 3 extra processors won't take up that much room. They never stated that you can DL straight from the box so it may be an external HDD capability, the DVD rom doesnt need to be large either(PS2 slimline) One half of the system could be the DVD rom and Processors while the other side is the GPU RAM and controllers. This would leave the powersource as external and still room over by the RAM for internet access.

Like I said before...Don't know how the hell they are going to fit it all inside that little "lunch box" as I call it...Since with all the transistors...theres gonna be hardly ANY space...if any....

That little thing is so small, barely any vents... and Nintendo even said themselves that they werent trying to make a super graphic machine like M$ and Sony
- didnt they say that it was going to be 2-3 times better than GC?

[LIVE] No problems adapting Lemmings to PS3
Team 17 has found the transition to PlayStation 3 a smooth process, specifically referring to the conversion of Lemmings for Sony's most ambitious console.
The developer did concede, however, that Lemmings was not a project on the scale of higher profile, big-budget titles, where adapting to the hardware may be a much more significant challenge.
"Largely speaking, we've had little problem adopting to the PlayStation 3," Martyn Brown, Team 17's studio director commented. "But then again it would be foolhardy to assume we are 'bashing the metal' on the hardware with Lemmings as much as something like Heavenly Sword or MotorStorm."
Brown supported some of the rumours and speculation that suggested developing for the PlayStation 3 was difficult, but also reassured us that this did not necessarily have to be the case.
"There's certain elements of that ring true, but only for titles that are wildly ambitious in terms of range and content detail, but as for day-to-day development, we've more or less taken it in our stride."
Team 17 is the creator of the popular Worms series.
