Looks kind of cartoonish, not really digging it.

That explains perfectly to me why PD0 looks so horrible. If I owned a game company and had an art team capable of the producing the above renders. Shit, I might have fired them on the spot! I don't know what Rare's boss or M$ was thinking when they gave this project a green signal.

The PD0 video is great deal better looking than the gameplay images that have been shown so far.

I doubt the in game characters will look anything at all like that unless we're in for a big(and unpleasant) surprise so what exactly are these renders of?

These I believe were renders of what the game was supposed to be like on the Xbox.
Personally, I don't think they're that bad... at least from an art perspective... the face in particular... it's a lot warmer than the new PD, where Joanna looks like she'd rip you a new one so much as talk to you. I hope they made a point to incorporate those kind of expressions... like I said I get very cold mean feeling from the new design... so I hoping for some kinder expressions.
EDIT:: Oh yeah, and Joanna needs to go back to being a red head that white tuft of hair in the front is REALLY annoying for some reason.

I just hope the game looks more realistic than cartoonish, it doesn't work for me.

Why were these even posted?? They're nearly 3 years old and are obviously not representative of the look of the game.

Screens 1 and 3 look good 2 and 4 dont look nearly as nice... and the game looks completely different from the previous screens we saw... the characters don't match the art either or the designs in the previous versions we saw... what in the world is going on in RARE-land?? It's just confusing... graphically their games are all over the place... are they really going to launch in november? Mmm.. I'm just spouting off, but I'm truely stupified by the drastic changes we keep seeing...
Also, as I really don't play FPS's, can someone tell me something... does the multi-player graphics really differ THAT much from the single player??? I thought it was the same throughout??

They lower the graphics because it wouldnt run as smoothly. Online lowering the graphics im pretty sure means you dont have to send as much data back and fourth so it makes it less laggy.

Umm... no, that's not how it works exactly... having less complex models might mean something if you're trying to dodge a physics data bullet or an animation data bullet, but it has nothing to do specifically with the graphics... if anything we'd see stiffer less fluid looking characters not lower poly or runny textures... there's a weak association... well, maybe if they're deformable or you can fully customize them... that could eat a lot of data up front... unless you sent all character info up front before the match and just changed values as they appear... which is prolly what they do... but lowering the graphics would essentially undo the whole point of that.
Anyway, is it common practice for FPS's to lower their graphics for online mode?? As I understand it, that's a big NO, and shouldn't even be an issue, but I dun play so I don't know for sure.

Its not common practice to lower graphics for multiplayer across all games but it does happen. Happens alot in large RTS games.
Halo is an example where they based the singleplayer graphics on how well it could perform in multiplayer. If the system only handles so much in multiplayer then that was the graphics resolution they used in single player. It makes the game seem smooth and not any big jumps between the two.
Could rare make the single player experience a graphics bonanzza? sure they could. but the multiplayer with 50 people might take a steap hit

come november I am sure the game will be super polished.
I am not worried and I still think the acquisition of rare was a good move.
Conkers on XBOX 360 = pwnage
Dont forget Tim Schafer!!!! He is gonna bring something big to the 360.

Conkers on XBox isn't it, they've been remaking it for 2 years what took them so long?!?
Anyway the screenshots straightballin posted look pretty decent, theyr probably early work so they'll get better because they could really pull something close to that off on Xbox now.[Currently looking for an applicable banner]

Those new PD0 screens are from an older build, and the final version should look even better.

There are way to many picyures in this section, it takes too long to scroll down.
I am not bothered by the fact that I am unknown. I am bothered when I do not know others.

News4Gamers
Hey guys...I just wanted to let everyone know that a great site news4gamers.com has recently been revamped and is now http://www.n4g.com/ . Its the beta version of their site but with the new upgrade they have tons of really great stuff.
Perhaps we should look at this and see if there is anything that we might want to learn or take from them.
Also, I see them growing into huge site soon. Perhaps we should look at adding them as a tag on PSU to submit articles to. They always bring us a good chunk of hits.
