To be honest, 360 came out first but the growth rate of PS3 is higher, so I frankly don't care if 720 is released first, as long as the PS3 doesn't have a failure rate like the 720 I'll be fine.... In fact, maybe it;s a better choice to scout your enemy so when 720 is out 7 months later PS4 is released with better ratings and reviews

Looking at the NGP if they can get all that stuff into that then i dont get why they make the playstations so HUGE

ps4 and the xbox arent gonna be out for a solid 3 years. There isn't much I see they could improve on this second. They Already have HD and 3D.
I dont know what else they could possibly upgrade in the new ones. They have all these accessories PlayStation Eye, Kintetic (etc.)
I cant come up with 5 things that could really need an improvement or a new features.

Does GPU form the major part of the cost of the console?
cuz in PCs GPUs are way more costly than CPUs

The successor to the PlayStation 3 is currently in development, Sony confirmed during the company's investor meeting today.

Executive vice president and chief financial officer Masaru Kato was asked to explain the rising research and development costs for the company's fiscal year. "In the game segment, we have the NGP to launch later this year. So we have development expenses to be incurred for this product," he explained.

"For the home console, the PS3 still has a product life, but this is a platform business, so for the future platform - when we will introduce the product I cannot discuss - but development work is underway, so the costs are incurred there."
