I dont understand how it will be backwards compatible if theres no slot for the old xbox controllers. Unless the new one is compatible with the old games.

they have all the same buttons besides the 2 triggers you wouldnt need old controllers to play old games.

there arent any black or white buttons anymore.. those were scrapped and they put the triggers in replacement i guess.. but most games only used the black or white buttons for changing views and stuff.

Yea but they still might be needed for some games so I guess the shoulder buttons will be the black and white buttons in old xbox games

probably.. what id think would be a good idea is if you did combos on your controller.. like playing football or something have the spin button and the juke botton.. so you can link moves together or something like that.

Am I the only one who feels the GUI's kinda cluttered?? I get the feeling you have to rummage through a lot of screens to get to different options... yes, yes wait and see... I know.

Also, I'm surprised that the faceplate looks as good as it does... I was sure they would be horrid... but it's not half bad... not half good either though since it was meant to stand up straight... but I'm surprised...

I read that you use the triggers or shoulder buttons to go from page to page.. but well find out sooner or later.

well the Dashboard is setup natively for a widescreen tv, so if you were using a widescreen when you bring up the menus on the side the inner portion that you see should be about the size of 4:3. The panes just cut off the widescreen viewing area.

I think it will work really nice on HDTVs. Only thing i question is how well it will display on normal 4:3 TVs. obviosly those panes are going to cut off alot more of the screen and may give the feeling of being cluttered.

Its possible though that they have a different dashboard setup for 4:3 tvs. would certianly make sense because its supposed to be customizable.

Well, I wasn't specidically talking about aspect ratio, but you bring up a rather good point... I would agree that they prolly have 2 different dashboards... the design doesn't lend itself to scale well. I dunno, until I really get my hands on it I can't say how it'll play out... I'm a minimalist though, so it could just be that kicking in...

The dashboard takes up roughly the same % of the screen in 4x3 as it does in Widescreen.

The GUI is awesome. It seems to me ever since MS annoucement of the console and the showing of the in footage of the 360 people have trying to find something wrong with it . All the way down to the littliest thing. I mean come on you got to give it to MS. They surprise a lot of the people with this console as far as design and everything else. Please stop nit picking at every little thing. I have read through a lot of post on this site since the unveiling an it seems people are just nit picking. Don't get me wrong I value every ones opinion, but at the same time give MS there props on a great vision and stop nit picking. Not saying all of you don't think it's a great console, but some of things people have complaining or talking about have been just utterly rediculus.

Well guys are also fogetting that sony had already showed same images with their toycam. I showed you guys lots of pics in the ps3 discussion. I mean they have like 3 times crazier games. Here are some of the pics. Aslo ps2 had bad graphics, imgaine when they release a system with better graphics it should blow away everything.

Looks nice, instead of using PD0 as their theme I think Sony are going to use games like Final Fantasy or GTA

Or we could choose what theme we want. But the default I would say would be Final Fantasy because of the collaboration with Sony and SqaureEnix.
