Silent Hill: Homecoming refused classification in Australia

Pathetic. According to this XboxOz360Gamer story, the Australian OFLC has refused to classify Silent Hill: Homecoming, effectively barring the game from sale in the country.
Apparently Australian people can’t cope with adult videogame content, which is why Australia has no 18 rating for games. Getting 18-rated games from other PAL countries must be really tough for Australians with the immense knowledge of “parcels”.
Sort it out, Australian law people. The rest of the world’s looking on in complete bewilderment.
They ban everything hopefully you guys can import it.

Silent Hill barred from selling in Australia

Yet another one.. great.
Guess it will be an import. Either that or we'll get a cut down version again.
AUSSIE RED FACTION: GUERRILLA CREW | AUSSIE GHOSTBUSTERS CREW
...There's never been a better time to be a gamer...
This is getting worse.... they better fix this crap soon.
Resistance 2 better not have any troubles getting in or i will be pissed.
Hmm... I'd import if I were an Aussie... They are so freaking backwards when it comes to this stuff... They'll allow their own to make something with x-rated violence (it takes a lot for VIOLENCE to be considered X-rated, I know) but outside of Australia? They forbid it. If it wasn't made by an Aussie, it won't get through... Well, there you have it, Silent Hill Homecoming should have been made by Aussies, then you could have played it!
Slight rant ahead:
[reveal]Remember, gamers, not a single person should EVER make fun of American "censorship" again after the stuff in Australia and Germany and some other places... Just because it's not allowed on US broadcast TV doesn't mean we ban it from the country. It's the porn companies and movie producers that want to keep pay TV alive, not puritans. Forcing people to pay for more sex and gore means more money for them.[/reveal]
Out of curiosity, how did they treat the previous silent hill games? Silent Hill 2 was full of rape references (one enemy was made to look like one person raping someone else in a bed when it was in its idle animation, of course in reference to a plot element) and pretty violent, Silent Hill 3 had fountains of blood in the environment and bloody corpses everywhere... Were those games let through?
I hope this doesn't mean that Homecoming is going more for the Resident evil type gore approach, of splattering enemies... I like the "aftermath" approach and environmental approach of the Silent Hill games gore, and also Jacob's ladder, which they pulled it from. The last scene in the SH movie kind of pissed me off because Silent Hill was never that actively violent... It was always something that was just part of the environment.Sig pic by Irish-Sid.
But really is anyone here surprised or shocked by this?
Its like water off my back now it means nothing. if i want the game ill find a way to get it.
can't yall just get the games shipped to you?
You know I always thought Australia would be a pretty cool place to go down and live, but as I grew older I learned about there tough bandwidth caps, and now all these games getting banned left and right. I sometimes feel sorry for you Aussies, but then again I guess being an American I get to have the pleasure of getting harassed for having an idiot for a president on the web. Fair trade-off I guess.
I honestly can not see why they would ban games that are 18 + Why wouldn't they go the logical way and just require photo ID when buying the game?

I just feel bad for Australia in general. So many games get banned because of the OFLC's classification system.
sony can you please send our pollies a couple of ps3s (with manuals).
Silent Hill banned? really?
so after 1, 2.............? 5 Silent Hill games they decide to ban this one
kinda weird, lucky PS3 is region free, bad news for some 360 fans
"Xbox is about to become the next water cooler”
This is getting bloody stupid. I got no problem importing, cause it's cheaper anyway, but still. Someones gotta hit these people up side the head.
Our TV censorship isn't as severe as the US though, but with games those old politicians really have no clue on gaming classifications and that moronic Q&A on it didn't help either.
Of course we can import but really an R rating would do good for the industry here.
I'd think that this game probably will be edited instead but by then the people that wanted it probably would have already bought it overseas.
silent hill is rather a scary game...

Ok i have f-ing had enough of shis s*it! at first it was like ok so they banned a game, now they are f-ing banning anything and everything! I bet we in Australia wont even get Heavy rain because of some stupid reason. I send this plea to anyone who calls them self a gamer, or to anyone who really wanted to play a game but had it banned. We the gaming communtiy are strong and there are plenty of us, help us Australians fight for our right to play what we like. For too long the gaming community has been seen as a child oriented activity, yet the polititions openly admit that the average age of gamers today are in there 30's.
So why not let us play more adult games? people have the right to CHOOSE wether they want to smoke (which we know for a FACT! kills people!) and still young kids do it and no-one does anything to stop them. People have the right to CHOOSE wether they want to gamble ( which we know for a FACT! rouins families) but the goverment still lets it happen.People have the right to CHOOSE wether they buy x-rated or r-rated movies and books, hell even the local news agent has r-rated books redily avaliable (which we all know young kid's go in there to look at) and the goverment still allows it! In my oppinion the gaming community need's to raise our collective voices and make some noise. Thank you to all who read this and happy gaming!
that sucks for the aussies..i think australia would be the perfect country for jack thompsonPS3: Uncharted 2 /// 360: Modern Warfare 2
I can remember my younger days watching an ad on TV where a girl was in the shower and there was NOTHING interfering with your view of her rear(wasn't bad either) and now it's like every second ad is "Do you find something on TV offencive? let us know!" seems to be the same for games, some times heaps of games get through the bs and sometimes, like NOW, the most basic of basic things get thrown out, I preordered this game the other day also...
Edit: almost forgot that perverted game TETRIS! how the devs managed to get that game through is beyond me! I've seen how that I block slides into placesif I am in the PS3 or 360 section I will NOT post about the competitor just to please people, if you want to know what I think about the competitor link me to a thread in the appropriate section
doesn't surprise me at all to say the least
