LBP delayed world wide

SCEE has just confirmed to VG247 that shipped LittleBigPlanet units are to be recalled on a global level thanks to a licensed track in the game containing two “expressions” from the Qur’an.

Sony just issued a statement on the matter:

During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused.

It was thought this afternoon that shipped units of the game were to be pulled back in Europe, but the move will be made “worldwide,” Sony’s just told us.

When asked how many units are to be recalled, a SCEE rep said, “We haven’t been given any figures.”

SCEE has made a just made a statement on the issue, saying the game will be delayed as a result of the issue, but hasn’t confirmed a new release date as yet.

I just got my thread deleted for some strange reason (MOD didn't say why!!??) about this.

I got word today that LBP has been recalled but sony didn't say exatly why. But after reading on the official forums there seems to be a music track that is forbidden in the muslim communty. If thats the case i can understand why they recalled it.

Dude the game is gold... they aren't reprinting a million discs because of some stupid lyrics which probably don't exist since this is a DUMB RUMOR!

This is unfortuntely not true. If they don't recall they will not sell in the respective country that is offended. I do not believe that this will affect the US in anyway, while we have restrictions, they are nothing like this.

That said, this is nothing but a rumor most likely started by someone that is trying to downplay the game momentum. Just let it go, call your game store and find out first hand.

Is this is TRUELY a case behind the delay, then why not delay in the middle east countries and not ENTIRE ****ING EUROPE.

The logic of "all or no-one" is completely idiotic. WHY do we have suffer because another region finds it offense... then delay in THAT ************* region.

I was just upset. Between having server issues on socom and hearing this "rumor" i'm just a little pissed myself. I honestly couldnt see sony recalling all of those discs. It would be a logistical nightmare

Im telling you guys... it's not a rumor. As i said in my first topic that got deleted i got this confirmd from tge depatment manager for games in my store that just talked to the sales rep from sony.

Now even one of the large webshops in sweden have it for November. 10min ago it was still 22/10.

We’ve heard rumblings this morning that LittleBigPlanet, the PS3’s best game yet, is delayed, with Zavvi and a few other websites now saying mid November for release. For the first time in a while we’ve actually checked with Sony, who have assured us that the game is still 100% on for next Friday, the 24th of October.
No delay.

Like all big companys it's very common that comunications is a slow process. It seems that the Marketing staff has not got the info about the delay yet.

Thank Goodness Tyboogie debunked this nasty rumor. If it is delayed however, I can't see it being delayed globally.

Edit: NVM perhaps it is true after all. But yeah, it looks like and hopefully for my US counterparts, the delay is just in Europe.
