    Plenty of PS3 goodies

    PLENTY OF PS3 GOODNESS REVEALED!

    Monolith plots PS3 title, new EyeToy avatar scoop, plus tentative launch line up and a host of next-gen Sony goodies

    11:41 You've got to love our magazine brethren. Despite working exclusively in dead tree media, they get in on some top scoops which occasionally make us a touch green with envy. Well, maybe not, but hats off to Official PlayStation 2 Magazine which has come up with a bunch of great PS3 goodies in the latest issue.

    Chief among the delights is the news that Monolith, the developer behind awesome PC FPS F.E.A.R., is working on a PS3 exclusive. Not a great deal more is known, but given the developer's leanings we'd be surprised to find it was anything other than a PS3 FPS. It almost certainly won't be a F.E.A.R. title though, as Vivendi has retained all rights to that series.

    Other hot PS3 news? Well, the mag also reveals that your online PS3 persona will be captured via an EyeToy camera, which can then be converted into an avatar so you'll be able to upload your mugshot to the PlayStation Network Platform and share your visage with an unsuspecting world.

    As well as providing rumours on the existence of a new Level 5 (Dragon Quest VIII, Rogue Galaxy ) PS3 title and the fact that Pandemic is beavering away on up to six new games for current- and next-gen consoles, OPSM 2 also offers a tentative array of some of the PS3 titles which should be available for launch in November. They are:

    * Lair
    * Motorstorm
    * John Woo's Stranglehold
    * Tekken
    * Sonic The Hedgehog: Resistance
    * Rainbow Six: Vegas
    * Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom

    An interesting array of PS3 goodies indeed and of course, we'll be bringing you more from the games juggernaut which is E3 next month.

    Awesome a PS3 exclusive game from the developers of F.E.A.R (too bad it isn't F.E.A.R itself).

    And the suspected lunch line-up sounds great too, thankfully nothing that will break the bank initially.
    Big Boss Emblem FTW!

    Man, the PS3 has the greatest potential to deliver the best lineup for a console's launch.

    Is Resistance a launch title on that?? I don't know if its "Sonic the Hedgehog: Resistance" or just Resistance. I'll defiantly be getting Motorstorm, Resistance and Lair if this is the launch line-up.

    EDIT: i think its just Sonic the Hedgehog: Resistance
    PS3 Funds: $150 CAN
    Surround Sound Funds: Bought one with my PS3 funds:P

    Games i'm getting at launch:
    - Army of Two
    - Call of Duty 3

    Sonic the Hedgehog: Resistance?

    *Sonic the Hedgehog
    *Resistance

    Is probably what they meant to put..... As far as I know the Sonic game is just going to be "Sonic the Hedgehog".

    Anyhow, I think this is great, but I think that everyone...er..SONY is trying to hold everything in until E3. They have been so hush hush and completely quiet that it's starting to make a lot of people think that they don't have any surprises at all. If you listen to 1up's podcasts you may recall their last one, and pretty much all of them, being pretty harsh on the PS3. Sure, one of the guys on there used to run OPSM but that doesn't mean anything. They seem to confident that Sony has nothing to show us at E3, and that the 360 is going to have strong software, and that Sony is just "slapping the Playstation name on something and thinking everyone will buy it" that THEY are becoming a big reason that people are getting discouraged about the PS3. They had some poll asking who will wait in line for the PS3 and they said that the overwhelming response was NO.

    Anyway, enough whining about 1up. I am confident that the PS3 launch lineup will be strong. I think that Sony is really doing their best to keep quiet about their lineup as much as possible so that we will be surprised as to how many games are being developed for PS3. I would do a quick comparison of the number of 360 titles being developed versus the PS3, but I am at work. I could almost gaurantee though that the 360 would have a longer list, but ONLY because Sony has been hiding a large portion of theirs with an iron fist. As everyone has been saying, Sony has been getting all of the big time developers to make games for PS3, and 360 has been getting the mid-to-high level devs, and the Revo getting the mid to low. It seems very unlikely that the "small" and seemingly barren(from popular series) list of PS3 games being made, most of which are unconfirmed, is ALL that is being done with the PS3. Thousands of kits have gone out, but we only have HOW many games being made? I call BS....

    Motorstorm for launch - hooray! I think Stranglehold was pretty much a given considering it's FALL '07 release from the trailer. Surely one of the WWII franchises will make it (Brothers in Arms or MOA) - that would certainly sweeten the pot a bit.

    Excellent find, considering how much of an impact these games will have on the sales of playstation 3.

    All we need now, is some demos of some sort showing us how good they will be.

    Any info on if these games will be exclusive?

    Level 5 RPG = exactly what I wanted to hear about.

    Hopefully its Dark Cloud 3 or Rogue Galaxy 2 or something new altogether. Level 5 has my utmost RPG respect after the amazing job they did with the Dark Cloud series and Dragon Quest VIII. Hopefully Rogue Galaxy releases real soon because that game has been hyped for awhile now by magazines and websites.

    I think that Sony is going to surprise friend and foes at the E3 this year. The non disclosure agreement has got some mayor devs saying nothing. I think devs like EA, KONAMI, NAMCO, KOEI, SE, UBISOFT, GUERRILLA and many smaller japanese studios is going to drop the bomb on MS.

    Don't get me wrong MS is getting me really exited about GOW, and a upcoming HALO franchise but i dont wanna jump to conclusions just jet. MS aint got no compitition right now so offcourse Ghost Recon, PGR3, oblivion, etc is looking great right now, we can't compare yet! All mayor sites are all saying you can better buy a 360 than upgrade your pc. Just wait, buy a PS3 ánd upgrade your pc, than you cant play real console games on your PS3 and play all the 360 shooters on your pc in much higher resolution than PS3 or 360 can ever dream of!

    Playstation is going schop bil*! (*= kick ass!)

    Warhawk is conspicuously absent from that line-up. but the new level 5 game announcement has made my day the developers there deserve more credit than they get. oh and please tell me sonic the hedgehog: resistance is a typo because the name just doesnt fit!

    This is just a lineup of launch games this place has heard about, not a full list or anything. Plenty more titles will be launch titles thats for sure.

    Just to set the record straight: Sonic the Hedgehog is currently only being called Sonic The Hedgehog. Not Sonic The Hedgehog: Resistance.

    Resistance is the new name for I-8, full title is Resistance: Fall of Man. Here's the link proving it:

    http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/i...ml?sid=6146418

    So you can add another game to this list.
