a black box would indeed be very nice, this colour gives the box a more mature look and feel over the 360 box.

But it looks like it is digitally created.

The hdmi cable would be too short anyways by looking at the picture.

But it is a very nice looking box, but don't you think it is kinda long for a playstation 3?

That box looks ugly. They should stick with the PS2 box design, that was simple and informative. This box just has too much stuff on it.

Completely photoshopped with PS3 images and cable images found on the net. The cables are flattened to look like they are laying on that surface and the box and manual look awful anyhow.

before anyone starts flaming me (which seems to be too late), i clearly stated in my 1st post that i could tell its cg. but i found it through amazon and not some random forum or something so i figured even tho its not a real box it could be sony's concept box or something

edit: that ps3 cg picture has been out for a while (even in the pictures area of ps3portal.com) and they are right on spec with what the real ps3 looks like. so why cant the box?

Haha, he went all out on the box and then was like "ahh... whatever" on the wires and manual. You guys are all like "you can tell because of this and that..." Ahhh... how was your first clue NOT the fact that the particular picture of the console that's used, has been around for months - he just plopped his design in there.

Also... anyone else notice that those are Xbox wires?...

Badz had found the image while searching for pre-order information. His opinion is that it's a computer mock-up, but it may still be a representation of Sony's direction with their product packaging design.

I agree that it's not real, along with Badz, and the rest of you.

And I doubt this will resemble what Sony will use for their box design.

Because of the use of Blu-Ray, I expect Sony to use blue in the design.

As far as this design goes, I like the fact that each side of the box shows the side of the console it is concealing. And I like how the top of the console image is clearly visible, and it fades to black as it nears the bottom of the box.
I do not think that the Spiderman font will be used. It's tacky. Not the lettering itself, but rather using it because your backing the Spiderman film.

This is the second worst pic I ever saw in my life. Just look at the manual it is somehow standing up while the cables are flat. It just is physical imposssible for that to happen.
