How to delete your own thread ... ??? can it be done

Don't think so, have to ask for a mod to do it.

No.
MODS and ADMINS, and SMCS can delete topics, or trash them. (Which is what we are supposed to do, as opposed to DELETE them).
Subscribers can do it to their own as well I believe.

Hmm, I don't understand why we cant? For example, if someone just found out that Firmware 2.5 came out and posted a thread about it (totally not me
) And then found out that's it's been out for weeks, they should be able to trash it.

If the OP wants a thread trashed they can always either alter the thread title to 'Already posted, please delete' or just report their own thread so the SMC/Mods can take care of it. Many people report their own threads for the above reasons and we don't mind doing it, hell, one could argue that's what we're here for!

Allowing members to move their threads to trash isn't possible with the usergroups, it would cause too many problems and deleting a thread also removed all the +rep and so on people have gained through it. And pretty much most of the time there isn't a reason to delete a thread fully.
Hope that answers your question.

If you allowed a normal member to delete their own posts and threads, you'd be heading for all sorts of trouble. Posts which have trolling and flaming in would be removed before a mod/admin has a chance to see it, and entire threads which are proving to be popular could be deleted in an instant. I think the system is fine as it currently stands, with only mods/admins and subscribers being able to move/delete their own threads and posts.

My personal opinions are not endorsed by PSU. But they should be.
