Buy an Xbox 360, or wait?

I am currently craving Halo 3 like there is no tomorrow and I have for a very long time. And some other games too of course. I want to buy a 360 to play with the other group of friends I have, and I wanna play Halo 3, but I am kind of worried that I might have wasted my money.

Since the 360 had a big price drop, it seems like an indicator to a new console coming from Microsoft. Am I thinking the right things? I don't want to buy a 360, then have to buy the future Xbox in a short time.

What do you guys think about the next console? I kinda hope it doesn't come soon, so I can get a 360 and enjoy it for a couple more years. I know I will be enjoying my PS3 for years to come because we know that Sony's next machine won't come for a while.

Buy it. The next system won't come for about 3 more years. They are doing very well with this and don't see them pushing out a new one yet with all the money they lost from the RROD. Halo 3 online is very fun and are lots of fun games coming out on it.

Thanks a lot for your post. Makes sense to what you said. I am leaning more to the side of buying it, so yeah. I know, I love Halo 3 so much. Maybe one day, I can regain my skill I used to have, and try to go MLG . I can live on Halo 3 and Socom being my main shooters, and I already have Socom.

I was really good at Halo too when I owned a 360. Don't know if I was good enough for MLG, but I was pretty damn good and had so much fun playing it.

Just curious, but why did you get rid of your 360? I got rid of mine because I couldn't stand having to trade it in all the time. I used to be a Sony dude before then, but everyone owned a 360, so I had to get one also. But I am so happy with a PS3 . Just want my Halo

I got the 360 because all my friends had it and wanted to play online with them and then realized that I didn't want any games for it and there was so many good games coming for the PS3 at the time so I sold it to get the PS3. At first I had PS3, sold it for the 360 then sold the 360 and got the PS3 again. And the PS3 is a system I prefer. I like the exclusives better and I like how it is an entertainment system and I use it for a lot more than just a gaming.

I may get one again for Christmas. Not sure yet. Depends what games I am playing when Christmas comes around.

Just buy one, the prices are so low already it's almost hard to pass up. If you want a quick fix, just go the Arcade.

Seriously, Microsoft seems to hold their cards to their chest when it comes to announcing titles.

If you can make sure you ask if it's the latest revision of the 360 that way you will get the die shrink on the CPU and GPU (which the GPU was the cause of the RRoD) I've no idea if there are markings on the box but only thing would be is the build date on the back of it only way you'll see that is once it's home.

I'm having the same problem, I either get one before christmas (as in the next week or so.) Or I go get one on boxing day either online or from a shop, online would probally be ideal because that way I can get it cheap from parents who bought the wrong console. I am actually craving for F2, GoW2 and L4D. I don't regret selling my 360 towards my PS3 but sometimes I wonder.

i just got the 60 gig 360 back in sept.. and it's awesome i use it more then the PS3.
and dont worry about a new xbox console we wont see one till at least 2010...
as consoles stay on the market longer they drop the price..
so get the 60 gig console its awesome and get halo 3 and gears of war 2

The xbox360 will not have any more price drops for the coming 6 months (and if they do will a $20 price drop make a change?).

As for games you you yourself want Halo3. What is holding you back?

There are not more games coming out on the Xbox360 that are already or will be available on the PS3 (I'm talking about former PS exclusives).
But there will be Gears of war, Halo and a few others.

Now you are assuming that I would go on and name them all. I don't see many more coming for PS3 so I don't see a reason to be waiting for either machine.

You are referring to the Jasper Chipset. It has do with when the console was made so, make sure it was made after August 2008. You can do this by looing at the lot number.

But at this point you're probably safe to not even bother checking. There can't be a whole lot of Falcon's left going.

Plus you might as well buy it. There are some great games.

Same. I sold my Xbox and all my games and accessories and bought the PS3 the same day. I enjoy my PS3 more than I did with the 360, but I just want my Halo

Over the weekend, I spent a day playing Gears 2 at a friends house, and tbh, it felt EXACTLY the same as the first one, which I didn't have much interest in, so thats a pass for me.

I am most likely deciding not to buy the 360. I just feel uncomfortable with two consoles, and I love my PS3. Halo 3 will be missed, but I'm sure there will be games to make up for it. I am having a blast with LBP and Socom, and there are still much more I need to buy. I'm gonna use this money to buy Fallout 3, R2, or some other games, or I'm gonna save up for a new amp. Or, I think I might just save up for a video card to record my gameplay.
