Gears of War 2? That's so 2008. We ask recently promoted Microsoft Games Studio head Phil Spencer about Gears of War 3. We heard during the show that story for the Gears of War trilogy has been completed, so what about the game design?

Thats what I'm hoping for. Gears 2 didn't have the effect on me that its had for others. An upgrade in the hardware and the engine might make Gears 3 good for me.

Honestly Gears 2 was the first game this gen to amaze me other than MGS4, it is the most complete experience I have ever seen in a game.

Theres plenty they can do with a new console that they simply can't with this one. I hope they put Gears 3 & 4 on the next Xbox.

For an example lets look at The Elder Scrolls. The 3rd installment (Morrowind) came out for the original Xbox while the IV (Oblivion) came out for the 360 and PS3. If we were to compare the two visually, they are such a huge jump. So if Gears 3 were to come out for the next Xbox I am sure many would be overwhelmed at how much better it looked, played, as well as many new additions. I say keep the next Gears game for the next Xbox, and really blow us out of the water as we will all be eagerly awaiting for its arrival. Sometimes waiting that extra duration for a game you really want pays off huge. I know when the next Xbox hits I will be waiting for the next Elder Scrolls and what they have accomplished with it, and I hope Gears 3 will be in that list as well. Basically what I am saying is that we have seen Gears on the 360 twice, we know what it is capable of. Now lets see what it will be capable of for the next generation.

What does that have to do with the Lancer? Sounds to me like you just got caught off guard, happened to me all the time in Gears 1 and still happens in Gears 2. Hell, why don't people ***** when they get shot in the back in COD4?

Take out your shotgun before going around the corner, somtimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. It's almost always 50/50 in Gears.

i dont understand why some people don't like the chainsaw in Gears 2. I honestly don't see the difference. I love the stopping power of the lancer now where people can't just sprint up to you, dive, and shotgun.

The difference is again chainsawing through bullets. They had to patch it in Gears 1 and will have to do it again in Gears 2. Its funny because if it takes the a month or two to patch I guarantee all the people like "Oh whats the problem" will be *****ing. Knuckles I guarantee you will be. For me I see the changes almost immediately because I played an unhealthy amount of Gears 1 MP.

Gears 1 had a huge community because the core gameplay shined through the insane amount of issues but anyone that plays it for even 5 minutes can see how broken that game is, I can't believe people are complaining about the shotgun as well, in Gears 1 you might as well not have any other weapon nobody used anything but the shotgun, you can use any weapon you want to effectively now, every single one, it is balanced, you guys just don't like change.

I remember when people started using that strategy nobody actually wanted to, they had no choice if they wanted to play the game, everyone complained about it, but somewhere along the line they got so accustomed to it that it became normal and they see it as a problem when they can't do it anymore, it's like when Bungie removed lock on off the rocket launcher in Halo 3.
