I'm sure you all have heard what's going on there. I hope everyone from the forums who lives there or near there is ok.
I can't believe that all this destruction and mess was not only orchestrated this well but without the knowledge of the local or even international secret service. Of course, I've already read about conspiracy theories regarding the government purposefully didn't do anything, but that's really beside the point.
Talking to a friend earlier got me thinking, what if this was to happen in another place, say for example London or Frankfurt or Washington DC? A series of attacks simultaneously and hostage situations. The police would most likely be overwhelmed.
What are your thoughts on the whole situation?

just horrible.
(take next part with a grain of salt) a friend of a guy i work with came into the bar tonight, apparently there is also a hostage situation in thailand (didn't read your article so might be redundant). anywho he said his cousin is one of the hostages in the bangcok (swear filter) airport.
the world is in a sad state, i actually blame this war we (america) started, we're flexing our muscle and the little guy is fighting back. and going into the marine corps, this has me kinda worried. i know what i'm getting into but that dosn't mean i'm not afraid, could go anywhere in the world to fight. got a cousin going to iraq in january then afgahnistan soon after then who knows, i really worry about what might happen to him. kinda went off on a tangent but this sort of topic strikes a nerve with mesteam id: ravioli704

bad news for India in a lots of ways ...
because before this there had been several bomb blasts etc. in the past but nothing this big this is really bad as they attacked our country financial capital , & the main hotels were hit where all the tourists & businessmen stay . lots of people will think twice before coming to India . this might hurt India economically ....

My brother lived with a group of people in Pakistan that helped Afghan refugees when the US was fighting off the Russians, and Islamic extremists still hated the US. It's all religious, but nobody dares say that. Think about it, 911 happened before the war.
As for Thailand, Thailand's always had political issues. I should know about these things because I've lived there. To give you an idea, Thailand's last prime minister was the first prime minister to serve a full term since it's first constitution was enacted (Thailand has gone through 17 constitutions and charters since 1932), and he was kicked out during a coup in his second term.
Oh, by the way, there are no hostages in the Bankok (lol) airport. People are stuck there due to protests, but there are no hostages.

Totally sucks. I have family staying in Mumbai right now, and we haven't heard from them.
They live in the area that had the bomb blasts like Sn00p mentioned. Forget the town name. They barely survived that crap, and now they went to Mumbai for something, and now this stuff. Everybody's pretty tensed up about, so I'm waiting to see how that turns out.I once ate a dirty sock...don't tell anyone.

Thanks bro.
Just remembered, the city was Ahmedabad, so according to google maps, its very very far away. They left quite a while ago, and shouldn't have been staying there too long. Maybe the reason we haven't heard is probably cause they're travelling back. Or atleast I'm hoping thats why.I once ate a dirty sock...don't tell anyone.

im sorry but people like you just make me boil with anger.........how in the ****ing hell can you possibly blame america for this? this whole liberal american guilt thing has been taking to such an extreme that it only leaves a nonsensicle response. please tell me in what way did america cause terrorists to take over public areas with unarmed cilvians and murder them without reason or cause? to be honest hearing that someone like you who is going to be a marine has me a little bit worried since i dont think you properly understand the situation at hand. tragedies such as these really dont translate into anything more than blind(likely religious) hate towards a group of people in which violence and murder is justified under their own sick beliefs (both religious and non religious)

My grandparents live in Ahmedabad and its quite far away from Mumbai.I hope all is well. I actually used to live in Mumbai and its scary seeing this happen in the city where I once lived. I actually travelled countless times through the station.
The dude that said that this has to do with america's war on terror I highly doubt that. The news said that evidence indicates that these terrorists are from pakistan and there has always been friction between pakistan and india mostly involving kashmir.
To the OP: I think if this happened in any of the cities you suggested I think the response time would be better reason being because they have well trained counter terrorist specialists. Also the quality of equipment is also better. In India the equipment and gear available to soldiers and police officers is quite rudimentary. They cant even afford kevlar and guns for all the police officers.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Yeah, we got a call from them today. Instead of going straight home, they went to visit some relatives somewhere else. Apparently, they didnt even know what happened in Mumbai
.
I've also been through Mumbai a few times before. Just feels weird that something like this would happen there. I just never really thought about it.I once ate a dirty sock...don't tell anyone.

There must be a reason. It is so shameful to this upon people.
India is a economy that is growing rapidly like China. So we have to competitors in the same area and India is getting the first blow now.
I hope it is just a renegade bandit crew who want to blackmail the government.

UPDATE: The latest toll is 195 dead, but typical American news they pretty much only talk about the 5 Americans that died. It sickens me that they would do that what about the other 190+ (if theres more) that died they don't care about them then the finger pointing begins.
FYI, I'm American but have support and care about others around the world not just my own.

It is obvious and already proven that America is the root of a lot of terrorist organization. Cause mayhem to reign supreme.
But this is another case. Strange, since the government wants to move a great part of the military in Iraq to Pakistan/Afghanistan. Strange indeed.
