2. I am not sure but I doubt they have that.

Multiple EB Games in Northern Virginia have said they expect to be selling pre-orders by this weekend--most likely waiting for news or estimates regarding their retail unit allocations. Most locations are taking phone numbers to alert customers when the preorders first become available.

i called gamestop 3 times in the last week. once b4 E3, they said they would take my name and number and let me know. i called yesterday and they said they might start taking them by begining of next week and they WOULDNT take my name and number in case (i asked just to c if they were screwing with me). i just called AGAIN 5 minutes ago and they told me no preorders till june, and that they wouldnt take my name and number. and yes, all 3 calls were to the same store (gamestop in harrisonburg VA). either im gettin the run around or its somebodies first/last week on the job

Ok - here is what the receipt says from GameCrazy from Dec (NJ store):

Item Description SYS Sale/Trade QTY CASH
PS3 Deposit $50.00 DEPOSIT 1 50.00

No Sku or anything else listed. The guy also put my name and number on a paper list. I will call once the SKUs are defintely in to verify mine transfered to the new official list.

For the person who said his receipt said 20Gig and 60Gig I assume he pre-ordered in the last couple of days - then I wonder what the list looks like if it was a store that previously took pre-orders like mine.

1. i was told in the north west region atleast its 2 per name or address. If this holds true you and your wife should be able to get one np even at the same store.

2. i heard that this goes to the regional level with the 360 but for the PS3 it should be nationwide and handled by the computer. It will flag some district regional manager etc.

Every Gamestop and EB I go to says that they probably wouln't be taking pre-orders at all, because the demand is high and they wouln't have stock to support it. Which I think is BS.

i called gamestop today and he said they would start taking preorders in the next couple of days so i should call back each day to see.

I have called my local gamespot, eb games, and gamecrazy everday since Sony announced the price and date. I think they are getting annoyed by me. I really hope they start it before Monday when I start working and I won't be able to get there till later in the day.

i just called my local Gamestop and they told me that they probably wont start pre-orders untill they know EXACTLY how many units they will recieve and that it wont be till like 2 months in advance of launch....bs in my opinion

The name of this thread should totally change to "PREORDERS HAVE STARTED" once EBGames, Gamestop, and a few others have all started. That way we won't have to come in here and ask every day and fill it up. We will see the thread name, grab our keys and wallet, and head to the nearest shop.

alot of the ebgames and gamestops are saying that tho wretchedsoul... i wouldnt be surprised if theyre actually tellin us the truth even if we dont wanna hear that from them. it sucks a big fat one but its logical and smart on their end to do something like that. it covers their a$$

well if its true why tell us for months that as soon as the price and date are announced they will pre-order ?

I just called my gamestop in Northern VA (Leesburg) and the manager said by the end of the week. Whether this is friday, sunday, or some other day marking the end of the week I'm not sure, but Ill let you all know if i hear anything else

Just called Gamestop and Ebgames in Rhode Island and Ebgames said they got an email saying that they are still in discussions over preorders for PS3 and should start taking orders soon...

Will let you know tomorrow if things change

UPDATE:

I called EBGames back, and asked when they think they will get their allocation so they can start taking preorders. They said "about 2 months before launch". This means that they won't know how many units they are getting for launch day until about 2 months prior to launch. Wow...... so I guess EBGames is out of the question.

So, speaking of Gamestop, has anyone confirmed that they WILL start taking preorders as soon as they get SKU/prices? The GS here says that they don't have to wait for allocation, but EBGames told me that Gamestop bought EBGames, and that they should all be under the same rules, and that he highly doubts that Gamestop will take preorders without their allocation.

I think this is total b.s. So, because of M$ undersupplying 360's last year, and having the worst launch ever, people that want to reserve PS3's have to suffer because Gamestop and EBGames don't want to get bum-rushed again. Total horse manure.

Just to let you know EBGames and Gamestop merged a few months back. They might have different names, but when it comes to the preorders both will be the same. So its bs no matter what. As a former employee, I could honestly tell you that Gamestop, Software Etc, EBGames are a complete rip off corporation. They know absolutely nothing about the gaming industry they just know how to make a quick buck. This goes along with their employees. One of the reasons I quit. They're stuck up arrogant pricks that work there that think they know a lot about games, but know absolutely nothing. We're the ones that do the research day in and day out about games. They just get random updates on their computer saying when games come out, but even then those games get pushed back. Don't trust any employee from these companies. Hell, if they didn't have such a monopoly on selling games you probably shouldn't go there at all. Sorry, kind of went on a gamestop bash. All in all, I think its bs that they still aren't taking the preorders. So much false information from the company because employees don't know exactly whats going on. GL to all that are trying to get a ps3. Including myself

I do agree with you about GameStop that they dont know good game, but I do work at gamestop currently and I do search what is great games and what is not. So you shouldn't say that ppl who works at gamestop dont know anything, there might be few ppl are just like you or me who do search up the new and greatest game outthere.

Was in toys r us today and asked about PS3 pre oreders, they said they wount take any pre orders until sony sends them a memo telling then to start.
they took some a few months back but sony sent them a memo saying stop taking them, and they cancelled them all.

There were taking Wii pre oders though.

I just called my local Gamecrazy in Timonium, MD and the woman there said they were taking pre-orders for the Playstation 3 and not many people had already done so because not many people know they are even there. I got over there in like 20min and asked again about it and she was like sorry I spoke to my manager it's not a pre-order it's just a call list. I had my hopes up for nothing. Oh well I'll get a call when they first start pre-orders though.

Just called the EB games in Las Cruces, NM again. I have now spoken with everyone who works there about pre-orders. Some girl said that they don't have the release date, which we all know is bs. Some guy they will start taking them at the end of June. However the manager said they should start taking them next week.

Good point but pre-orders HAVE started.
Wouldn't it be better if anything that wasn't in the format that Cera stated was deleted so you wouldn't have to ask about pre-orders as you could just scan the latest updates instead of pages of unanswered questions.
This should be sticky and it should be stripped of anything that isn't real pre-order information as the opening post suggests it will.
