Polyphony Digital developing New Game(New IP)?
SCEE’s James Armstrong said in interview or something:
"For next year, the chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment for southern Europe said that they are developing a new game thriller, in which the player may be designing their own history, and the new version of Gran Turismo, which will arrive at Christmas."
He's said that developing a new game!
"new version of Gran Turismo" - Gran Turismo 5.

It's True?

GT5 is going to flop, unless GT5P improves dramatically from the shambles it is now I cannot see me buying it,this will be the first time since GT I will not have bought one.

The biggest problem with Prologue was it was a 'teaser' game. I thought it was brilliant, but didn't have the longevity that a full GT would have.
A man can dream though. A man can dream...

GT is still considered one of the best driving franchises in gaming history. That's hardly "shambles" territory.
I'd be shocked to see PD work on anything other than a driving game, they've been doing nothing but GT ever since Omega Boost... which actually I wouldnt mind seeing an update or sequel of.

Hmm, new game thriller. Wonder which one of the unannounced titles he's given that description too.

CAN THEY FINISH THE FIRST ****ING ONE! Like seriously I'm dying for GT5! So much that I actually pondered wasting money on the unfinished copy GT5P.

I HIGHLY doubt it.
PD seems to have their hands full with GT5, unless they're smoking pot, and talking about all the other times they smoked pot.Them Crooked Vultures

GT5 will kept being put back because these developers are some of the best who actually care about making better. Some just release their games and then throw patch after patch at it. GT4 took a while but it was amazing!

i put a lot of time in gtp and it was worth the £20 i paid for. it was called prologue for a reason. and it was far from being shambles as people like to put it.
as for gt5 i wont be suprised to see this game by fall next year. well i am hoping at least. the game needs to come out already

Well atleast GT5 has a set release date. Christmas 2009. Could care less what else PD is working on. For all we know it could be a game about dirt and air. Once PD shines some more light on this "new project" I'll get more excited. Just happy they're committing (do I dare say) to a release date/time.

They can do whatever they want AFTER they finish GT5.
and no, GT5 will not flop. That is an impossibility.

Ive got the game and played all the previous games to death. It's obvious they have spent more time on the stupid GT-TV than actually making sure the game works properly, sure they fixed a few things here and there but the biggest update was the GT-TV crap which I am sure we can all live without. I just hope the next update includes a decent lobby system which we have all been crying for because I got sick of racing random jackasses ramming you off the road to win as I bet you did too.
Thats why I do not like it in its current state.[IMG][/IMG]

So, Polyphony Digital developing New Game OR Not?
-
12-27-2008 #24
I just decided to read the article first hand and I've discovered that the quote is misleading.
it's SCEE that's developing the new thriller. PD is still ONLY working on GT5.
see the quote is by someone from SCEE referring generally to new releases for Europe in 2009, because he mentions two games and one of them being GT5 it's assumed that the other game is theirs too. But that's the wrong impression. He's only trying to give a general statement of two upcoming games.
Also his comment that "the player may be designing their own history," suggests that this new game is not Heavy Rain, but something even newer, since Heavy Rain is heavily scripted, thus not open to create anything.
