Why not just put everything in stickies and callit a day? Every posible subject about the PS3 seems to be in a stick any how and the mods jsut close subjects after X amount of pages and justify it with "this is in a sticky" so let's just cut outthe middle man here and put a big lock by all the forums and rename them "post it in the stickies.

Because then there's no individual title for each individual piece of news, because people will have to post it in an existing topic (a sticky for that topic) and people would not have a clue of where to find anything, resulting in people getting annoyed at you for this idea

I agree. No body is going to search the forum with a fine tooth comb on every subject. People will post news they think is new or original even if its discussed elsewhere. We should only lock threads if there's an identical thread (and then merely merge those threads). Elsewise, let it be.

If there is something that can be discussed in a sticky, it will be. That is the purpose of a sticky. You do not need to discuss one subject in more then one thread.

And you do not put up a stick for every subject just so there can be no room for discussion on specific aspects of a subject.

You can discuss specific aspects of a subject. If there is news on something that deserves to be discussed in another thread then by all means it should be (for example the tilt sensory on the PS3 controller or the 2 versions of the PS3) but if the news is just about a game that already has a sticky then it should be discussed there. The reason why there are stickies is to keep conversations in one place.

[LIVE]Bungie signs 10-year deal with Activision
Activision today revealed that the publisher has formed a 10-year deal with Halo developer Bungie, marking the firm’s first alignment since parting ways with Microsoft back in 2007.
According to the press blurb, the deal is “an exclusive 10-year partnership to bring Bungie’s next big action game universe to market,” with Activision obtaining exclusive global rights to publish all Bungie’s future endeavours based on the new IP on “multiple platforms and devices”. Bungie itself will remain an independent studio and will own full rights to the IP.
Harold Ryan, president of Bungie, commented: “We chose to partner with Activision on our next IP because of their global reach, multi-platform experience and marketing expertise.”
“From working together over the past nine months on this agreement, it is clear that Activision supports our commitment to giving our fans the best possible gaming experiences.”
“Bungie is one of the premier studios in our industry and we are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to work with their talented team over the next decade,” added Activision COO, Thomas Tippl.
“Bungie has developed some of the most compelling and successful games, multiplayer experiences and thriving fan communities, and this alliance underscores our long-standing commitment to foster the industry’s best creative talent. Our unprecedented partnership with Bungie will enable us to broaden our pipeline of exciting new games as we continue to strengthen our industry position and pursue long-term growth opportunities.”*Kiss My X Box Flavoured Ass*
