Killer Instinct 3 and new Banjo-Kazooie in the works?

Rareware definitely had a pretty good presence this year in the form of "Kameo: Elements of Power", and "Perfect Dark Zero". Despite these two titles, Rareware Ltd. is already looking to the future. While talking to a few Rare employees, and Rareware game testers who work out of Microsoft, I got into the subject of the next wave of Rareware titles.

You can definitely expect a Kameo sequel, if "Kameo: Elements of Power" warrants it according to Lead Designer George Andreas. According to a few others though, George and company are also gearing up to start work on a new "Banjo-Kazooie" title to follow up the first two titles that were on Nintendo 64 over four years ago. According to some employees, the title is in the planning stages, although not much work has actually been done so far.

Another interesting bit of information that will have millions of gamers cheering for sure, is the news of a "Killer Instinct 3", the follow-up to Rareware's fighting games "Killer Instinct","Killer Instinct 2", and "Killer Instinct Gold". According to the employees, a hint was supposed to first be shown in a Killer Instinct arcade machine hidden in "Grabbed by the Ghoulies" that wouldn't really do anything, but would be made to frustrate fans into thinking the machine actually could be unlocked. According to one of the employees demoing "Kameo: Elements of Power", somewhere within the title more clues and apparently, unlockable items/characters that take nod to Killer Instinct will also be there. We will have more on Banjo and Killer Instinct as info comes available.

I'm not sure what to think of this but if Microsoft keeps getting first parties then they might even be able to match up with Nintendo with games like Kameo (for some reason that game reminds me of Zelda) and the like.

    O yea, I'm new here.

hmm im not sure the KillerInstinct series has that much power in it. Not many peopl remember the game quite well and the 64 version didnt do that great either. But i guees there is always a chance for redemption.

I remeber playing Killer instinct on the SNES, but I dont remeber if it was good or not. Im with Episilon I dont know how much name cache Killer instinct still has, but seeing how the only thing I remeber clearly was that the game came with the soundtrack on CD.

    KILLER INSTINCT 3!

I hate you Microsoft, you're making the 360 look so tempting...

Killer Instinct 3 = 3D, this will be very interesting to see. This will probably become another fighting main series from 360 like DOA. I hope it's good, I'll just bump to my friends house and play it all the time.

Banjo-Kazooie on the 360? Hmm, I would have thought of that game be on the Revolution since its started out with Nintendo (The 64). Though there are exceptions to that meaning, I mean look at Sonic the hedgehog, he first started out on the Sega systems, went to Nintendo, and could possibly make an imperience on the PS3.

As I recall, Killer Instinct wasn't all that great... ... a Capcom clone as I recall. I never understood why everyone was so attached to that title... I remember being able to just sit there and beat other players and a number of NPCs just hitting the same attack over and over and over...

The thing, I think, that set it appart was that it looked so different than what was out then... and it was a lot more mature for a SNES game... I think only the hardcore gamers really have any love for the game, which I think is based mostly in nostalgia.

That said I sure hope another Banjo is in the works... easily some of my favorite N64 games were the Banjo, Donkey Kong Country, and so on games... another would be awesome. Though, I doubt we'll see one for some time. Kameo is the same kinda of game, and I don't think RARE wants their games competing against eachother.

Sonic was released this past generation on all 3 systems. It just didn't do very well on anything but the Gamecube.

Honestly, Banjo and Killer Instinct were pretty lame, even horrible games, so this is pretty unexciting news, IMO.

IGN has confirmation that Microsoft will now own all of the intellectual properties previously owned by Rare including Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini, Conker, Killer Instinct, Blast Corps and Sabre Wulf...

Well if there were any doubts about Rare owning all their original IPs then I guess that's cleared up and Micrsoft really owns KI and Banjo.

Killer instinct was not a button pushing contest! the graphics looked really good, and what sold it like all of the other fighters still around today was it distinguished itself from the crowd with the ultra combos!

Killer Instinct 3 and new Banjo-Kazooie in the works?

are you jokeing ? KI was hardly not good i dont think you guys were old enough to remember posibly but i remember the sales i remember the employees yellin at ppl just for asking. that game was the hardes and best sold that i have seen. of course now suply for software is better.i cant even imagin all the cash i put into the arcade. you ask me its the doa and the tekkens of the world that suk soul caliber barely made it to me the combos in these games are awekward and just silly KI provided depth with skill and ballence KI 2 needed clasic chars but had the visuals to me ki goes down as one of the best games ever. i think developers should look at KI as a model for a perfect combo system though im sure to the slow button mashing prity graphics is enough

You guys are stupid if you think the KI series was crap!. Back then fighting games was limnited 1-15 hit combos, you might get to twenty do a juggler or something. My first experience with KI was the best I had on any other fighting game at that time. That was the first game back then that allow you to do 1-100 hit combos!. Them combos wasn't that easy to do either. They also had some of the best characters I have seen in a fighting game. Riptore, Saberwulf, Orchid, Cinder, Glacier, Fulgore. I mean KI and KI2 was awesome to, but I didn't really get into gold. Just think of the possibilities it will have on the xbox360 with xbox live play and tournaments with spectator mode. Not to mention when xboxtv starts.

I played KI (arcade version) when it came out and thought it was pretty good but it never really made me come back for more . Mortal Kombat series in my opinion offered much more .
However KI should be an awesome game on X360 as next gen systems can provide more graphical power , smarter AI etc etc to really bring the best out of these types of games . Also looking forward to Mortal Kombat Next Gen .

Rare's Killer Instinct was what Nintendo had as a viable fighter against Namco's Tekken and Sega's Virtua Fighter back then. I had the SNES version of KI and it was a decent game if not uber cool. The combo system was rad. I don't know how it fared on the N64 version but it was a crowd pleaser at the arcades over here just like Tekken's and VF's. If Rare can put out KillerInstinct and BanjoK for Xbox360. It'll be better than trying out a brand new IP and also there could be a risk of non-interest in a new IP. Whereas these established games will have atleast some fanbase to begin with just like PD0.

Cliff Bleszinski(Gears of War) on David Jaffe's God of War: I warn you, though, if you play God of War, other games aren't as good anymore. It's like eating a really good steak, and then going back to Sizzler.

mk is tyerd though i liked deseption it was only be couse of its depth. ki triligy was good on psx the rest however i thought was ok. id have to say on snes ki and ultimate mk was 2 of the must haves. gold was good but the controler was a joke. and it may have been 3d but it didnt feal 3d. still ki gold had alot more to ofer than tekken or vf the combos on those games were just funny and the lack of fatalities.

This is good news isn't it? personally i don't like killer instinct but banjo is a different story. I love banjo, it was one of the best games i played on the 64. I hope rare keeps the charm of the game intact....they ruin perfect dark so far in my eyes...

Ahhh, I remember KI, it was fun when I was like 8 because of the Cinder. I think they could make this into a good game again, more characters and the same style of gameplay, in 3d of course, it could be fun again.

Oblivion assets including PS3 vs Xbox shots

This is mostly for Seb and Kieran, I guess...

I still can't batch upload screen through PSU.com (unauthorised to view page), so I have uploaded them to the Server directly for someone else to pull off and upload, or to sit there until I can get my permissions ironed out!

    They are in files/images/Oblivion_assets_JM
