So wait..
Do you HAVE to set up a proxy on your computer, or can you just use a random one found online?Last edited by Lamaomgrofl; 09-03-2011 at 20:13.

Aren't proxies illegal or bad or something? I've seen forums ban members using proxies.

How slow is it? When my PS3 worked I had a max download speed of 1.6MB sec and judging from the time it took to download 1 full megabyte it looekd like it was something similar (1.5MB second) now with 60Mbit (around 7MB sec) would that be the case?

My connection was really slow. It started fast when I was downloading in the foreground, but after I changed to download in the background it was going so slow (I'd guess < 100KB/s). Whereas in the foreground I must have been getting ~4.8MB/s (it quoted ~5.8GB to be completed in 20 minutes).
After reading this I wondered if there really is some network issue with the PS3, so I disconnected the LAN cable and connected using WiFi (the PS3 is right next to the modem/router anyway) and now seem to be getting +/- 1MB/s at least.
I just don't get why it would be so fast in forefround downloading, and so terribly slow in the background, but then faster in the background on WiFi than Ethernet....
I have 100mbps cable with 106mbps from speed test, so i should be able to get at least 5MB/s easy...Last edited by teqteq; 1 Week Ago at 14:13.

Wierd. I just cancelled the download, plugged the cable back in, downloaded in foreground (fast) and then switched to background download and it's still fast...
I was downloading a different game before. Maybe they come from different servers? It's possible if they're hosting through Akamai (which I think I've had problems with lately with iTunes and YouTube).
Anyway, fast now...
