Alright guys I'm about to launch my laptop off the balcony and watch the ****er plummet 25 stories down unless someone here is able to help.
Every single time I open up my computer I get the same windows has encountered an error and shut down ********.
I click on the details and it comes up with this
C:\DOCUME~1\nick\LOCASL~1\Temp\5bd8_appcompat.txt
What the hell is it and how the hell do I fix it?
I emptied that temp file god knows how many times but nothing ever works.
Please help!!!

Restart in safe mode.
Download Hijackthis and run it
either save and post in a forum for that. I think the website has one, or you could attempt to fix it yourself if you know what you are doing.
I googled the error and got this:
Remove Trojan.patched.af Spyware Removal Information
Description:. A Trojan is a program that disguises itself to be a useful program, but actually performs some illicit activity when it is run. ...

yeah basically what you can do i download that hijackthis program and it runs through your Startup processes ... then it produces a log file which you should post up in a forum, there are truely thousands of places where all they do is sift through hijackthis log files.
Alternatively, you can return the log file into the website from where you dl hijackthis and it will work it out for you, but if that doesn't work then the forum is the way to go!
Alternatively, do you have rollback enabled?

Do you have a link for hijackthis? I keep going in a circle and can't find anything.

So these guys are the best! www.techsupportforum.com
They've always helped me with all virus/spyware related issues in a step-by-step, even your grandmother could do it, fashion.
Thing is, I guess they recently did away with HijackThis Log analysis, I believe it's for the better as they know their stuff and software down to a "T."

I can't get into the forums anymore. I set up an account, did everything asked of me. Now I can't get in to if my question has been answered.
Can someone see if the website is down for them too please?
Why can't anything ever be simple?
