When is GDC and what can we expect?

Just wondering when it is and I've never followed it before so what kinda off coverage can we expect to see?

Do the Japanese Companies like Square attend at all and is it Public or a Private convention?

Do big games ever get announced at GDC?

Well I don't remember in details ,but I remeber Gears of war 2 anoncement ...And screens/videos for many games

There'll be some really nice announcements this year I think, particularly from the Sony camp.

GDC is mainly used for developers to show and share ideas. There'll be many lectures from high profile projects and people explaining how they achieve certain things on hardware, as well as future ideas for the industry.

Resistance 2 was announced, and I think Motorstorm: Pacific Rift was too. You have to remember, this event isn't for game announcements mainly. I think there will be more there this year though, as Leipzig has been cancelled, and Sony simply have too much to announce at just E3 and TGS09.

I don't think Resistance 2 was announced at GDC. It was revealed in a January/February issue of Game informer. I remember this from last year.

Gears of War 2, Home, and Littlebigplanet were all announced at GDC though.

There have been quite some games announces there but they are trying to make it more private and much less open to the public. The press is however still there.

It makes sense as it is a developer conference where they talk to each other and not like e3.

Anyway i dont know what to expect other than lionheads new game which i think will be announced.. But that doesnt have much to do with ps3.

the only info i want from this is the new games that will be announced, info on GOWIII, uncharted2(screens pls or some vid clips) and i hope Zipper shows some footage of MAG and talks about psn network infrastructure and how they'll manage a 256 player rooms

I just hope that most of the tech talk slides will be available to the public, I just ache to get my dirty little hands on them..
