I am not so sure, if he catches him, it's very likely he could pass. I think Button lacks any sort of credit for his overtaking. He is always better on the backfoot.
One of the best lb for lb drivers on the track in my opinion.

how? he [Button] would've needed to use his tires to gain on Nico.
Nico on the other hand was told to keep his tires, ie go slower. allowing what seemed to be a quick gaining mclaren.
if Mercedes saw Button as a possible threat they would've just brought Nico in and put him on a brand new set of soft tires which he had saved from the previous day.
and, as evidenced by the first stint, Mercedes went 14 laps with full fuel on the softs.
Micheal would have been caught, no doubt about that. Nico, not a chance. a perfect race for him, from start till finish.

Go Team Lotus. Well deserved 2nd and 3rd places.
Enjoyed it especially towards the end when Kimi was challenging Vettel for the lead.
Hamiliton is a skillful nutter overtaking Rossberg off track.

I was hoping for Kimi to knick it at the end, but it wasn't to be. Glad the race went ahead, it didn't fall short of expectations

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso criticised Rosberg
Rosberg was under investigation after the race and cleared of any wrong doing Alonso made a funny tweet about it.
Video of incidents at link
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/17808396
Ferrari's Fernando Alonso criticised what he considered dangerous driving by Mercedes' Nico Rosberg in their battle during the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The German was cleared by race stewards who investigated two incidents in which he appeared to push Alonso and McLaren's Lewis Hamilton off the track.
"If instead of such a wide run-off area there had been a wall, I'm not sure I'd be here to talk about it," said Alonso.
Rosberg said he preferred not to comment until he had seen a replay.
“He [Nico Rosberg] pushed me off the track. You have to leave a space, all the time you have to leave a space”
Fernando Alonso on team radio during the race
Hamilton did not comment on his incident with Rosberg, which happened on lap 10.
The 2008 world champion pulled to the inside of Rosberg out of Turn Three, and Rosberg defended by moving towards him, right over to the white line that demarcates the edge of the track.
Hamilton kept coming and managed to overtake Rosberg.
The incident with Alonso was almost identical, but happened on lap 24. The Spaniard did not manage to pass the Mercedes.
Article 10.4 of the F1 sporting regulations says: "Manoeuvres liable to hinder other drivers, such as deliberate crowding of a car beyond the edge of the track or any other abnormal change of direction, are not permitted."
Alonso went on the team radio after the incident to say: "He pushed me off the track. You have to leave a space, all the time you have to leave a space."
After the incident with Hamilton, Rosberg said over the team radio: "He overtook me off the track." This is also not allowed in the rules.

Bahrain Grand Prix highlights
The stewards said in their ruling on the Alonso incident: "At the time Rosberg made the move, Alonso was behind him and no part of his car alongside the Merc. Rosberg made the move to the right before Alonso.
"For more than half the distance travelled by Rosberg in moving in a straight line towards the right edge of the track, Alonso remained behind him.
"Because the speed delta (difference) between the cars was quite significant it was difficult for Rosberg to detect the exact position of Alonso in relation to his own car. No part of Alonso's car was alongside Rosberg."
Their explanation for the verdict in the case of Hamilton was almost identical.
After the stewards announced their decision not to issue any penalties for either incident, Alonso said on Twitter: "I think you are going to have fun in future races! You can defend position as you want and you can overtake outside the track! Enjoy!

It was good to see Vettel back where he belongs! I'm also glad to see team Lotus on the podium finish!

why u no fan competition?

Mercedes engined cars did RUBBISH!!!
wth??
Micheal couldn't pull away from a sauber, Hamilton couldn't catch the ferraries, button was no where, rosberg lost everything.... Renualt engine ftw in hot places?
was wanting raikkonen to win though, would have made the ending much better.

Absolutely enjoyed seeing the 2 Lotus cars on the podium, and Vettel did a pretty good job holding Kimi off. Excellent race for sure. Great picture here haha.

still watching the coverage of F1 on BBC this year!
just seen a bit of the sky presentation
it's sad to see ted in a suit......it smacks of tackiness. not just the suit, the entire setup.
the presentation team is also weak. martin is awesome for commentary but not presenting, the others are meh!
Eddie and DC are a far better presentation team, suppose i should add jake in too.
LOVING Gary Anderson though!!!

Yeah the only thing I really like is the red button features, like riding on board with drivers and shit
. Other than that I much prefer BBC live coverage. It's not all that bad though, cos Georgie Thompson is smokin'

F1 Online: The Game™
signing up for closed beta applicants over at codemasters.....idea seems interesting, to say the least.
https://www.f1onlinethegame.com/
F1 Online: The Game combines intuitive top-down racing gameplay with a rewarding management game. By forming their own racing team, players will make the calls to develop their own personal franchise and improve their car’s performance on the circuit. Gamers begin by designing their own livery, helmet and logo to give their team a unique identity. Acting as team boss, players will be in charge of building and developing their own headquarters into a world-class motorsport facility. This will be home to several different departments which are vital to the running of a successful racing team, including R&D, production, commercial and more.Last edited by Fijiandoce; 05-07-2012 at 08:57.

whats up with the teams this year???
aside from Hamilton and Alonso, everyone else is sucking majorly!
its fun to watch, no doubt about that, but really hard to figure out why its happening. Pirelli probably change the tyre compounds slightly every race
-
05-12-2012 #3416
Yeah good shout on the tyres lol. But not entirely sure, it was cool to see Maldonado grab 2nd place lol. For a minute I thought that Alonso would sit on pole, the crowd were ready to burst lol, but it wasn't to be!
Man, gonna be in front of the TV almost all day tomorrow o_O. Gonna watch the race and then immediately after, or even during the race, the Arsenal game starts >.<

is this where the thread turns into a "they hate hamilton" discussion again?
Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you.
I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do.

I couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like.

the back of the grid thing is the only thing I don't agree with, he should have been dropped to 10th and no more. other than that, he doesn't have any cause for complaint.
needless to say, some fanboys won't see it that way.Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you.

exactly, he got into Q3 within regulation. he wasn't outside the rules in either q1, or q2. sending him to the back is a bit ott.
probably trying to stamp down their authority after the farce of Bahrain.
williams on pole though......after SUCKING big time last year. this season is driving me crazy.
-
05-13-2012 #3422
Hamilton has ALWAYS come off badly in any given situation where the FIA can punish him and this decision is just ridiculous.
I've seen loads of drivers stop due to lack of fuel after qualifications and more so races, surely the guys that were unable to get back to the pits after a race should be stripped of their wins...Last edited by Xelis; 05-13-2012 at 01:34.

Its in the rules they have to provide a sample of fuel and if there isnt enough they need to be penalised.
Its not Hamilton thats at fault its his team, they are the ones monitoring his fuel levels do the drivers have fuel gauges and speedos in the cockpit?Last edited by keefy; 05-13-2012 at 01:47. Reason: spelling yo!
