out of curiosity. why do you blame Martin Whitmarsh? Under Ron Denis, Schumacher racked up all 7 world championships.
i would reason it as bad luck on Martin's side that red bull have been as good as they have
on the flip side, Ross Brawn hasn't exactly gotten round to the new pace of F1, their car's development has been lagging. evidenced by Mercedes, only just last race, adapting a concept every other team had employed.
Mercedes were top of the grid (literally) at the begging of the season.
i would like to see Di Resta in the Ferrari
been too long since a Scotsman has been competitive![]()
i've never liked Massa.
My views on the matter however:-
curious what schumey will do next year. pretty ungraceful way for a 7 time world champion to go. perhaps Mercedes will announce him as their test driver. this is an easy way to create a positive spin on an awkward situation.... especially since he's bested Rosberg this year in every aspect bar car reliability.
On Hamilton and Mercedes. eeh, not sure. Hamilton is pretty aggressive on tyres and the same is said for the car he's moving into. hopefully, its not a problem next year. regardless, it looks to be an exciting time heading into next years F1can't wait to see the Mercedes pushed to the limit!
[Edit]
As im a fan of Mercedes, i suppose (by extension) you could say that im now a fan of Hamilton.![]()
i hope that sexy helmet he wore in Singapore becomes his default for mercedes. im all for heroes, but since he is trying to make Mercedes his own he should start by creating his 'own' image that others will look up to. rather than bypassing him and looking to the guy he looked up to.

personally, I don't understand the witch hunt against whitmarsh, as you state, the results weren't that flattering under dennis' last 7 or 8 years or so. if anything, whitmarsh has done a better job of getting the team to where they are now than ron did in his end years at the helm. on recent form, they are the best team in F1 at this moment in time.
a lot of people seem to forget that in 2010, hamilton had a good lead until he lost his head and threw it away by failing to finish 3 out of 4 races at a crucial point of the championship race. even taking those 3 critical DNF's into account, he was still only 16 points behind vettel at the end.
in the last 9 years of ron dennis' reign, mclaren won no constructors championships, and one driver's title, hardly a glowing achievement.
in whitmarsh's tenure, he has only finish outside the top 2 once, ron finished lower than that on more occasions. as for driver's titles, as I said, hamilton was a shoe-in for it in 2010, but he lost the plot.Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you.
I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do.
I am the resurrection and I am the light.
I couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like.

bit of a boring Q3 this time around, pretty normal to have a red bull front row at suzuka. unlucky for the others that raikonnen yellow flagged the last run of fast laps.

no one posted in here about Kobayashi's first podium!?
well, i'll be the first to say that it was great to see him on the podium after the injustice at Spa. shame sauber messed him up after the first stint. who knows, with massa's crappy driving he could have finished second.
on the subject of massa; BBC reporting Massa to stay at ferrari. i hope this is false, Di resta should get that seat.
Anyone else sad to see schumey go? i love his driving style! it always looks so controlled, even when he's making a mistake.
i'll just leave this here:

Due to the time difference and being busy with other things today I've not been able to watch the race.
Very interesting now that Vettel won and Alonso DNF, though. 4 points in it? That's crazy considering Vettel hasn't looked convincing to me for a while
I too think Di Resta or someone else should take Massa's seat at Ferrari (Perez would have good
). They are just persisting with him and hoping for something in return? Or some sort of loyalty is present, I'm not sure. But fact is if Alonso can get the performance out of the car he has this year, then it's clear Felipe just isn't up to it at a team like Ferrari
Looks like Grosjean back to his usual antics lol. +1 to Webber for calling him out

you could see Webber going through in his mind what he thought would be "acceptable" responses for live TV

i have many Australian friends, none of them would let that slide without "Fuck" being used at least once

outlook for the rest of the season not looking so good

Vettel has dominated these last two races.
fun race today all the same. Poor showing from both the mercs, even worse from Mclaren.

Mclaren had an absolute shocker! I feel for JB though, his start was excellent and then that happens. Grr.
You think Vettel will run away with it now? Alonso still hanging in there

i hope Vettel doesn't run away with it, but given their recent performance i'd say it would be difficult for other the others to keep up. having Adrian Newy must be a huge bonus for red bull during the end game. they are constantly updating their package.
Personally, i can't wait to see lewis fighting (in whatever position) in a mercedes
. to that end, this season has been dulled a bit. perhaps they should ban announcing driver line-ups until the end of the season. kinda like football have transfer windows....
Lewis and Button have both conceded their title challenges.

in the interest of this threads control (as i did create this years F1 thread) i'd like to update this thread with news and such. if my posting manner is against forum policy i'll desist double posting
Vettel has been sent to the back of the GRID!! Alonso has a golden chance to close the gap
these fuel regulations are harsh as hell though

I really want Alonso to win this season. I'm not his biggest fan (he is a miserable dude) but he is the best all round driver on the grid, no doubt about that. And he is driven some spectacular races this season. He deserves it more than Vettel
Ok maybe I just don't want Vettel to win a third consecutive year.I Like Games.

He is. I honestly think if all the drivers had the same car and were all at their peak performance Alonso would be the fastest with it very close between Hamilton and Vettel racing for 2nd. He is just a great all round driver and if anyone had any doubt all they would need to do is look at Valencia (I think it was that) and how he dominated the race. Hoping he can do the same again today.

i think michael is the only other driver to be let down by his car this many times this season.
Hamilton was in a world of his own until his failure!
on the plus though. thoroughly entertaining race! lots of action. Kimmi's first win of his comeback, with a bit of luck to boot
alonso didn't make it easy...
next up AMERICA!!! F1 gun get'chu!!!

Now I see why Hamilton wants to move he had it in the bag and the car let him down.

He should've been a double world champion by now, people keep forgetting that. It's a bit of a silly move going to a lesser team but at least he may have consistency. Speed isn't everything, you can look at Fernando and see that. That Ferrari shouldn't be near to where he has got it.
