2012 Race of Champions
Shame Schumacher had to leave this year. its obvious he's still got what it takes. i think Rosberg was lucky with his contract terms and micheal was unlucky with his.
2012 Schumeys best racing year since his return, also, his most unlucky in 2 decades of racing
Button is the only other racer i enjoy watching (onboard stuff), next year will be somewhat lacklustre imo

I don't see why not.
McLaren lack a driver that can consistently push Vettel in an equal car. Button is good when his car is superior, but he's a mid pack driver when it's not. Perez.... he may be great one day, but he lacks experience and maturity as a driver.
Ferrari would have to pull off some amazing car development, something which they haven't been able to do since Rory Byrne left. They won't be able to rely on luck as much as they did this year. Were it not for a string of events like McLaren's horrible pitstops, Red Bulls alternator failures, and cars ahead of him crashing out, Alonso would have finished behind Hamilton, possibly behind Button.
Everyone knows Weber is the 2nd driver at Red Bull, and that isn't going to change.
So, unless something really incredible like the 2009 Brawn happens, Vettel should have an easy time of things next year.

What's everyones take on Formula E?
i think the pitstop idea is a bit silly if you ask me but i can understand why.

So... Mercedes have released their engine for 2014...
2014 Mercedes-BenzFormula1 turbo engine- 1.6ltr V6, revs to 15,000rpm, and has a HUGE turbo.
If you wondering, the carbon box is the inlet plenum, and the huge turbo centre core is because it houses the parts to allow the KERS system to help spin the turbo- Electronic anti-lag basically! If they want to, this engine can have ALL the boost, ALL the time.
Awesome- F1 just got interesting again!

Don't have a source as it was from FacebookI Like Games.

Mercedes should still have the most powerful engine come 2014.
kinda bummed that we've slid all the way back to 6 cylinders
how many top tier race series run 6 cylinders? i guess it could be seen as a positive in some lights, but i miss the V10's even more so now.
turbochargers have lag, wonder how this will affect the drivers? especially around the faster flowing tracks.

Yeah, makes a little more sense why Hamilton moved there. Not in competition this year but come next year and Mercedes may be the ones to beat.
As far as my (limited) engine knowledge goes I don't think this engine will suffer from turbo lag as the turbo is electronically spun so if anything this engine should be a monster around São Paulo and Monaco

Hamilton will win races this year though. Mercedes were amazing last year when they didn't need huge compromises at weekends (Monaco and China)
if they've worked out the cars kinks, he'll be right up there. possibly fighting for 3rd place in the constructors
aren't the F1 cars running turbo chargers though? super chargers work off of the engine don't they? turbo chargers work off airflow so aren't effective straight away. as far as i know, i could be missing or misreading something
i hope the latter is true though, not for arguments sake, but as a spectacle. drivers are easy on the throttle as it is without the engine suddenly 'giving' them power all of a sudden
i would expect a lot of spins during the season. hopefully there would be some during the race. spice it up a bit

True that but i still don't think they have a competition car this year. They may prove me wrong, it's going to be interesting to see Mercedes, and furthermore Hamilton handles the tyres! At least he *should* have a reliable car this year. That's what cost him last year.
Yeah turbo's work off gas from the engine/exhaust to spin the turbo charger, what I think this new engine does is already have the turbo charger spinning electronically so there will be no to little turbo lag. Honestly, i'm not too sure and i'm just speculating on what i've read. So i could - and probably most likely - be wrong!
It is certainly going to be interesting that's for sure, and now as it is going down to V6 (god i am going to miss that beautiful v10 noise!) maybe it will be needed. Pretty sure i've read that they are removing more of the aids for next season so no more power steering and traction control - it's down to the drivers again!
One thing for certain - I need F1 back in my life. Sundays are meaningless now!I Like Games.

Various way to reduce lag, 1 is to use twin turbos, 1 has a low boost so kicks in low down the rev range and the other kicks in higher upt he rev range.
Using the KERS seems a more effiient way because I bet the rules only allow 1 turbo and at so much lbs of boost and usign an anti lag system liek the cars below is wastign fuel.
Turbo power
hopefully we will hear some whistles pops and bangs

Knew there would be someone who could better explain how a turbo works. Either way, That Merc engine is going to be something special.
I heard McLaren are going to be using a Honda engine in 2014I Like Games.

Mercedes want to replace team principal Ross Brawn as part of a restructure aimed at improving the team's performance.
hamilton's gotten himself into a mess it seems.
team looks to be in a bit of chaos atm.
thank you keefy for clearing that up
as much as i miss the V10's, im eager to hear these V6's with turbochargers

Lotus has chosen to launch its 2013 Formula 1 car, the E21, online.
The new car will be unveiled via the Lotus YouTube channel at 19.15 UK time on Monday January 28.
The event will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports News HD in the UK.
Lotus's choice of date means it will be the first F1 team to take the wraps off a 2013 car, as its unveiling takes place three days before McLaren's.
The team has retained Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean for this season after taking a big step forward in performance during 2012.

i must say, im somewhat reserved for this years unveiling

i don't like the sound of the optional 'vanity panel'... FIA should've just revised the rules.
regardless, i do look forward to seeing what has been crafted over the winter
i don't know if it was posted here or not, but Williams will be racing their 2012 car in their 2013 livery for the first season testing. the 2013 car will be revealed during the second.

fucking sky! tacky as always! the fuck was wrong with "welcome, here is the drivers to unveil the car" instead i had to listen to that tool interview people and crack pathetic jokes....
irrespective of sky's tacky presentation, i must say, the car looks different. most importantly, quite beautiful
i can't wait to see what others are doing, especially red bull, i expect theirs to look quite a ways different to last years car.

I thought the presenter was pretty disrespectful in terms of Grosjean, along with being pretty crappy. Dude kept bashing him and what was with wishing Kimi a happy new year and not Grosjean? Didn't really like it at all. I watched the stream on youtube and they even cut out before the Lotus laser show

liveries are designed with many factors taken into account.
1. sponsorship
2. team history
3. car shape
the title sponsor, in this case vodafone always gets the most prominent area on the car, and as such gets a big say in what the paint scheme should look like. mclaren won't have free reign to paint their cars how they want, and any layout that is decided upon will have been done so with massive influence from the title sponsor.
between them, they will come up with the best looking option for the car, including sponsor colour and the historical colour of the team.
if/when the vodafone link to the team is phased out as a lot of people are anticipating, to be replaced by telmex, a different colour scheme will be drawn up, probably looking completely different, but still using the traditional mclaren silver in some way.Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you.
I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do.
I am the resurrection and I am the light.
I couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like.
