    granted, Paddy Lowe is an unknown quantity. he could carry the torch admirably. i suppose he should at least be given a chance.

    Looks like neither Schumacher nor Brawn got a chance to repeat their former success, it looked like they had a chance of doing so though, they were headed in the right direction.

    Well yeah it was pretty easy like you say given how good the RB7 is, and Red Bull have not exactly produced a crap car in the last 4 years lol! (at least for Vettel anyway )

    But McLarens downturn was obvious really from second pre season testing, still annoys me that they had one of the fastest cars at the end of last season so they decide to completely re design it and end up a second off the pace, sometimes more!!

    After the massive redesign of the McLaren this season it was going to be obvious that they weren't going to do well this season, as soon as I saw the reveal I was like "this is clearly a step towards the 2014 regulations". Didn't even need to see the pre-season testing to be honest. McLaren ought to have a VERY strong car next season as after only 5 races they practically said that they were concentrating on next year's car, you can see evidence of this by them constantly adding new parts to the car with next year in mind whether it'll hamper this year's car in each race or not.

    JB and Perez I think knew this at the start of the year as you could see it on their faces, they were pretty glum but having said that for an experimental car not intended for this season it's done pretty well. Still don't know why they raised the nose though as the 2014 regulations have all noses to be lowered dramatically - which means no more fugly stepped noses, WOO! Or would that mean we'll get the Walrus back?

And they did consider going back to the mp4-27 at one point so i don't think they designed a car with a view to 2014 going by how different the regulations are.
    They were even trying to put parts from the mp4-27 onto the 28 for a few races. Now it seems all the parts are maybe more focused on next year.

    Next year your gonna have lots of cars looking like the Brawn from 2009 and a $#@! sounding V6, what a spectacle :L

    That's too bad. Personally I think Perez deserves the ride more than Button. Button has produced more than Perez this year, but Perez has a lot of room to mature and grow yet while Button is nearing the end of his career. Button has 3, maybe 4 decent season left before he is done, and I seriously doubt anyone other than a backmarker team would want him if he were released from McLaren. He's had a good run, but next year he'll be 34, and most F1 drivers leave F1 before reaching 36.

    give him another couple of seasons, and red bull can hire him to help add that bit more gloss to vettel's achievements before he bows out. let's face it, that's what webber has been doing for the best part of the last half decade.
