yeah, I've seen that a few times myself.

what he fails to allude to though, was that vettel was one of only a few drivers that day to gamble on a full wet setup. even during the wet qualifying session the day before, a lot of the front runners ran with a full dry setup with the thinking that race day would be dry, hence the somewhat topsy-turvy starting grid.

not taking anything away from vettel, he won and should be credited for doing so, but exceptional circumstances helped him out considerably.

of course, he conveniently left that nugget of information out, as he tends to have an habit of doing so with all his pro-vettel propaganda.

    What an anti climax.
I thought he would slide it around and handbrake turn into the car park space at the end.

It's a sad day people A very sad day...

Lotus will have a driver pairing of Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado next year with the team finally announcing the signing of the Venezuelan. With Kimi Raikkonen leaving Enstone at the end of this season to return to Ferrari, Lotus quickly made it known that Grosjean will remain with squad in 2014 and will take over as leader.
However, that left them with one seat to fill and Nico Hulkenber was initially the odds-on favourite to replace the Finn, but the Sauber driver quickly slipped out of the race after Maldonado became available.
Williams opted for pairing of Felipe Massa and Valterri Bottas for next year and that left Maldonado - and the multimillion pound sponsorship deal he brings with from Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA - on the driver market.
With Lotus a bit short on cash, they opted to sign the Venezuelan while Grosjean' future was also finally confirmed.
"It is a fantastic opportunity for me to join the Lotus F1 team for 2014," said Maldonado.
"It's no secret that I have wanted a change of scene to help push on with my Formula 1 career and the Lotus F1 team offered the very best opportunity for me to be competitive next season.
"The regulations and cars will change significantly so it is a very good time for a fresh start."
Team principal Eric Boullier added: "It is clear that Pastor has pace and potential - demonstrated by his 2010 GP2 Series title success and then through strong races throughout his career at Williams.
"We are convinced that we will be able to provide the correct environment to enable him to flourish regularly on track."

Hopefully once Lotus are stable financially they will give Maldonado the boot. Its clearly because he has the money, nothing special in terms of driving ability if any.

    I didn't hear any sound?

Horrible, far too quiet. For once i agree with Vettel, said that when the fans go to a race they hear a sound that is so unique and will never leave them, he doesn't think fans will get that from the V6.

Where do you go after the V6 era? V4? :L

The electric era! To be honest I'm actually quite looking forward to this. Looking at the car there's less drag, more streamlined, more mechanical grip, and most certainly more downforce, As for the speed? Well we'll soon find out.

I'm not keen on the sound. Will be good to see when it is running 100% and not at a quarter of it's power.

Hulk is back to Force India. Another side step for him. It's a shame as he deserved that Lotus seat more than Maldonado

I hope that Grosjean totally rapes Maldonado so much that he doesn't get another seat the following season or even gets replaced through the 2014 season. If there's one thing Grosjean has become this season is that he's become just as quick - if not quicker than Raikonnen, once he works out the race craft like Kimi then I think he'll be a better driver, but Pastor? He's not exactly flamboyant, he only won the Spanish GP because Hamilton was given a major harsh penalty.

I agree, really don't think Maldonado deserved the Lotus seat and it is all because of money! I think the Hulk deserved that seat because of his skill but now he is back in the midfield again (if FI make a decent car of course) and just doesn't seem to be getting where he deserves to go! Unless Maldonado is a VASTLY improved driver next year he will get out raced by Grosjean no problem!

    Next years final calender:

Formula 1's definitive calendar for the 2014 season has been confirmed by the FIA World Motorsport Council.

As expected, Korea, Mexico and the planned Grand Prix of America in New Jersey have dropped off the 22-race provisional calendar published by the FIA in September.

It is understood that financial problems have led to Korea losing its slot after four years on the schedule, while there are still hopes Mexico can return to F1 for the first time since 1992 in 2015.

The future of the New Jersey race is uncertain as this is now the second time the race has been removed from the calendar having dropped out of the 2013 season.

This means that the 2014 season will be held over 19 races, with several changes made to the running order late in the season because of the loss of races.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, originally scheduled for October 26, has been moved to the end of the season and will now be held on November 23.

This has allowed the United States GP at Austin to move forward a week to November 2, while Brazil, which was originally the season finale, is moved forward from the date now occupied by Abu Dhabi to November 9.

    2014 CALENDAR

    March 16 Australia
    March 30 Malaysia
    April 6 Bahrain
    April 20 China
    May 11 Spain
    May 25 Monaco
    June 8 Canada
    June 22 Austria
    July 6 Great Britain
    July 20 Germany (Hockenheim)

    August 24 Belgium
    September 7 Italy
    September 21 Singapore
    October 5 Japan

Not a bad list, odd ending on Abu Dhabi rather than Brazil. I assume we are back at Valencia this year? I really dislike Silverstone. It would make my day if we could ditch that and use something like Brands Hatch for the British GP

Ditch Silverstone are you mad? That's one of the best circuits ever! While they did get rid of one of my all time favourite corners (Bridge) they have added in the new section which is scary to drive at full throttle before the back straight - really a nice improvement and made the track faster.

Brands Hatch though would be amazing to have back or even Donnington, but the facilities at both venues just aren't up to scratch and the courses for modern F1 cars are too short, having said that though the new F1 cars will be a fair bit slower I'd imagine.

Yeah I think you would be crazy to get rid of Silverstone, plus a season without the British Grand Prix is like F1 without Ferrari it's been part of the calender that long! They did try and switch it to Donnington and it was all good to go ahead until they realized just how much work was actually involved, that plus the company that runs Donnington hit financial trouble!

I like the idea of Abu Dhabi being the final grand prix, it's good to change it around once in a while!

I've just never enjoyed Silverstone. I've seen a F1 race there back in 2007 and while it was good (I imagine any live race is good) I just don't like the circuit. It's flat and boring! I'm not saying skip the British GP but we should get a better circuit.

Only good thing it has going for it that it is a relatively fast track. Other than that though I don't have much love for it.
