Rover and Honda had an alliance in the 80s and 90's.
Rover 213 and Honda Ballade were basically the same car, my dad wanted the rover because it had Honda engine in it and they were very reliable compared to the Rover engines at the time (mid 80's) the honda balade was rarer in the UK but the 213 was not.

Final report from day 2 at Bahrain:

Kevin Magnussen topped the second day of Bahrain Formula 1 testing for McLaren, as Mercedes-engined cars led the way again.

The Dane produced a late flourish on Pirelli's super-soft tyre to knock Force India's Nico Hulkenberg from the top spot by a whopping 1.5 seconds and set the fastest time of the week so far.

Fernando Alonso continued Ferrari's solid start to the test with the third fastest time, racking up nearly 100 laps in the F14 T and splitting the Mercedes-engined hordes with a soft-tyre run in the late stages.

The Spaniard wound up less than a tenth adrift of the Force India, which topped Wednesday's running in Hulkenberg's hands.

Nico Rosberg took over Mercedes driving duties from team-mate Lewis Hamilton and caused two red flags in the morning. He recovered to end up fourth quickest, almost half a second further back.

Mercedes customer team Williams bounced back from a difficult first day with a fuel system issue to set the fourth fastest time with Valtteri Bottas at the wheel in place of Felipe Massa.

The Finn completed 116 laps in the FW36, comfortably more than any other driver, and enjoyed spells at the top of the times during the day.

The beleaguered Red Bull squad had a more productive second day in Bahrain. World champion Sebastian Vettel completed 59 laps, more than twice the number the Milton Keynes squad managed across the previous five days of testing.

The German was on for a top six time until Kamui Kobayashi made a late improvement on Pirelli's soft tyre.

Kobayashi endured a difficult start after taking over the Caterham from reserve driver Robin Frijns, but overcame telemetry problems to complete over 60 laps and break the 1m40s barrier.

Red Bull sister squad Toro Rosso also enjoyed a much better second day in Bahrain, after suffering a multitude of issues with its car yesterday.

Jean-Eric Vergne managed nearly 60 laps in the STR9, compared with Daniil Kvyat's five circuits on day one.

Vergne set the eighth fastest time, ahead of Esteban Gutierrez's Sauber and Romain Grosjean's Lotus, which completed just 18 laps due to a variety of installation issues with the 'twin-tusk' E22.

Max Chilton's Marussia ended up at the bottom of the timesheet.

A fuel system problem restricted Chilton to just 17 laps, after an IT issue on day one limited team-mate Jules Bianchi to just three laps of running.

Seeing that he's 5 seconds off the pace, any faster and I bet he wouldn't come even close to 59 laps.

    End of day 3 results:

Lewis Hamilton ended the third day of Formula 1 testing in Bahrain on top of the timesheets for Mercedes, while Red Bull was forced to finish its running early.

The 2008 world champion took up a commanding position at the head of the field after a series of short runs in the morning, as Mercedes worked on what it called "different set-ups".

Hamilton spent a long time in the garage in the middle of the afternoon, before returning to the action with little more than half an hour remaining and adding another 22 laps to his total.

For most of the day nobody got within three seconds of Hamilton's best, with Jenson Button leading the following pack.

The Briton was briefly knocked back to third by Esteban Gutierrez around lunchtime, before he put in a lap time 0.7 seconds adrift of Hamilton during a busy afternoon where he completed a mammoth 75 laps in the MP4-29.

One car that was rarely seen on track in the afternoon was Red Bull's RB10 with Daniel Ricciardo.

The Australian, following on from a day where team-mate Sebastian Vettel managed 59 laps, had to make do with a total of 28 for the day - and just five in the afternoon - before Red Bull called time on its activities around 30 minutes before the track was closed.

The team's race engineer co-ordinator Andy Damerum revealed that a mechanical problem was found on the car while set-up changes were being carried out, and the issue required the crew to dismantle the RB10 so it could be fixed for the final day of running on Saturday.

Lotus also had another troublesome day, as Pastor Maldonado twice caused red flags after making a promising start in terms of mileage in the morning.

Before the car hit trouble, Lotus did at least become only the second Renault-powered team (after Caterham) to set a lap time under 1m40s this week. A late effort from Daniil Kvyat helped Toro Rosso join that club as well.

Ferrari also had a tricky day, with Kimi Raikkonen losing a lot of track time during the middle of the test while it solved a telemetry issue.

Elsewhere in the field, Williams spent most of its time focusing on pitstop practice, as it gave drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa half a day of running each.

Marussia decided to perform an engine change after Max Chilton was forced to stop with just four laps on the board early in the day, but the team was unable to get it completed before the end of the session.

Its perennial rival Caterham had another good day in terms of mileage, as Marcus Ericsson's 98 laps helped contribute towards him becoming eligible for a superlicence.

    Final morning's report:

Nico Rosberg topped the morning running of day four of Formula 1 testing at Bahrain, setting the fastest time of the week so far.

The Mercedes driver set a blistering pace during a handful of short runs in the morning, the last of which - with a single flying lap on soft tyres - produced a 1m33.283s.

That lap is within one second of Rosberg's own pole time from the 2013 Bahrain Grand Prix.

Jenson Button and McLaren ran as best of the rest, much like on Friday when Lewis Hamilton had been setting the pace for Mercedes.

After a troubled first day of running on Friday, Kimi Raikkonen and Ferrari had a busy morning playing catch-up, with the Finn completing 42 laps and setting the third-fastest time.

New Williams test driver Felipe Nasr - fresh from the announcement of his signing last night - took over duties in the FW36, while race drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa watched on from the pits.

Raikkonen aside, the morning running was dominated by Mercedes-powered cars logging laps.

Ferrari customers Marussia and Sauber were held back by a systems issue and a chassis problem respectively, with the latter having to perform a chassis change in the garage and not appearing at all during the morning running.

The Renault-powered teams had another tough few hours, with the French firm's four teams logging a total of 39 laps between them.

Lotus's feared delays with Pastor Maldonado only amounted to 90 minutes, but the car only made passing appearances on track after that, and was spotted with lots of tape on joins in the sidepod bodywork.

Daniel Ricciardo completed one run of note in the Red Bull RB10 around midday, getting his lap count up to 13 in the process.

Caterham - one of Renault's most reliable teams this week - only managed four laps with Marcus Ericsson, who is handing over to team-mate Kamui Kobayashi for the afternoon.

Sure looks like they are the engines to beat, pretty much topped the time sheets for all test days so far, but I am not surprised because of how good they are at making high powered performance engines!

yeah, apparently, they'd have to ask the FIA if they wanted to do more, as after that point, it technically starts counting as the teams' usable engines.

The same goes for all the other teams. end of feb is lock down time.

Renault haven't run their engines at full yet either if i read it right :/
sleepless nights for them it would seem.

Horner said it was to due to the 'ers' unit on the engine as Renault have't done it themselves yet like Mercedes of Ferrari.

Lotus, like Red Bull, use Renault engines and all the French company's teams are having to run with a power-unit performing far below expectations.Problems with hardware and software mean the Renault power-unit is 100-150bhp down on those of rivals Mercedes and Ferrari. Nor are the teams being allowed to do any functionality testing - they are simply running around at reduced power to enable them to learn the basics about their cars.
Renault engine chief Rob White said the company was now at a "respectable opening level of power-unit behaviour with a number of incidents that is understood and manageable, but we're behind where we wanted to be".
White insisted: "We absolutely can catch up and it is my clear determination to do so. And not just catch up but overtake."
However, the manufacturers' engine specifications are to be frozen for the season on 28 February - in seven days' time - after which changes may only be allowed with the permission of governing body the FIA on reliability, cost-saving or safety grounds.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said the "biggest issues" were with the energy storage units linked to the new 1.6-litre V6 turbo hybrid engines, which are new to F1 this year.
He said Renault were suffering as a result of their decision to hand development of energy-recovery systems to the teams when the technology was first introduced to F1 in 2009. They were now behind Mercedes and Ferrari, who had developed the units in-house, he said.

I don't see any of the Renault powered teams finishing in Australia at this rate. Eventhough Caterham completed a good amount of laps, the powertrain was turned down to a minimum to stop it blowing up.

I'm also beginning to wonder if Mclaren should move to Honda engines after how well the Mercedes engine is working. Hope they've got some spies in the garage. But then again they've done quite a bit with hybrid engines so hopefully they will be alright. Plus they've had an extra year on they other manufacturers.

Good that the Mclaren hasn't broken down in either test.

Nothing to do with F1 per se but Mclaren played a huge part in the Team GB Bobsleighs for the Olympics.
