Amazing race. Stunning drive from Hamo even though I thought he was out on turn 2, Vettel had a great recovery, accidents all over the place and Ricciardo *claps*. See didn't I say that I wouldn't be surprised if an RBR wins?

Also a big grats to Alonso, he seriously deserved that second place, lasted a lap longer than Hamo on his tyres but what is more surprising is that he was on the softs and not the hards! If anyone can Alonso can.

Have that Nico. When's it's fair you can't do $#@! to Lewis. So happy for Lewis. Yet another great recovery drive.

Another lucky win for Danny. Meh. Safety car and conditions and fresh rubber.

Thanks to Final for the sick sig!

A great race to leave us with for the summer break! Great stuff by all those guys!

didn't i say Hamilton would get third though! called it! xD

Ricciardo continues to shine in his debut at the highest ranks. Only guy to beat the mercs. For pendantics sake, Rosberg was lapping 1.5secs+ faster than him at the end though. So the edge still clearly with the mercs when everything being equal...which it wasn't and *imo* led to a great watch!

Missed the race as I had driven from Cornwall and had a little nap so I missed the highlights I'll check it on iPlayer tonight when in bed. Couldn't ask for a better podium though. 3 top tier drivers.

All those things also played into Hamilton's hands so he could get the podium

so what you're saying is because hamilton started from the pits, he didn't benefit from the same exceptional circumstances that ricciardo did?

Not to say it was not an impressive drive, it was, it usually is with Hamilton, he has started far down the order through no fault of his own and done similar in the past.

Great race to go into the summer break with, Riccardo was again the right place, right time and a worthy winner. Another great comeback drive from Hamilton and I think he was right in not letting Nico past earlier in race, if he wasn't right up his gearbox then he shouldn't just let him through! And once again Alonso show's why he is the best all rounder in the championship today, great drive on tyres that should have given up on him laps ago!

Really chuffed for Hammy - great save by him. As for Alonso - best driver on the track bar none. How we got his car round those corners just running on metal rims is hugely impressive

As much as I love Lewis, alonso deserves a wdc worthy car before he retires.....

As for ricc...... Is he really that good? Was sebs wins purely down to the car? Was Webber that $#@!? Suppose proof is in the standings..... He's third.... Take the mercs away and he'd be leading

What have we got next year? Anything that will lessen mercs current advantage?

The mercs have a much smaller engine package, so they can shift weight around which generally leads to better aero. It's a knock-on effect of the way they packaged the turbo. lots of small things lead to a big advantage.

However, next season you can expect every engine supplier to use that design. the Mercs might still have the edge (having 1 year head start) but the gap will be smaller and you can bet the Red Bulls immaculate aero package to either put them ahead again, or bring them next to level.

As for Ricciardo, Micheal Schumacher said during alonso's Minardi days that he'd be a future champion. Alonso has said the same for Ricciardo....so....possibly.

Like Fiji says its a knock on effect that improves across the board.

this vid explains it better and with pictures.

Pretty bad weekend for all my drivers. Started off with Kmag slamming into the barriers after getting into Q3 and needing a chassis change. Solid race though. Problem in qually and then crashed during the race Rosberg was so unlucky at the timing of the sc, as were the other 3 or 4 cars behind. Seemed to struggle after that whether there was an issue or what he just seemed to slow. But yeah, rubbish weekend.

Good thing is the McLaren sale is on......pickup a T-shirt or so

I'm sure Honda will have been looking at the merc engine with great interest.... And will hopefully be able to better it

I wouldn't be surprised if McLaren become a challenger next year, I really hope Honda have been looking at what's been going on and trying ways of incorporating the same layout or even a better one, suppose only the first test next year will really tell!!

I had a great weekend, Alonso, Hamilton, Massa, Bottas, and Ricciardo all in the top 8, 4 of which in the top 5.

Riccardo doing good this season, who would have thought that he would have won 2 races this season and Seb has one none, don't even think he has been on the podium as much as Riccardo!

ricciardo has outquailified vettel pretty much 2:1 so far this season, and often by some margin. in the 7 races they have both finished, he has finished ahead of vettel 6 times, 2 of which were race wins.

    that's more than just luck.

Makes you wonder. If Ricciardo was at RB for the last 4 years, would Sebastian be a 4 x champion?
