IMO, it is unlikely. The Merc works team is now on top of their engine. The car, and power unit, are now being designed as one - which didn't happen when they started. The Williams (and all customer teams) will get an engine and design a car around it. With the engines next year all being similar, the big teams budget for fine detail should put them at the front again.

Mclaren are essentially the Works Honda team, honda has apparently invested a sum of money into Mclaren.

Red Bull Renault, Mercedes, Ferrari, and Mclaren Honda will be the title contenders imo...maybe less so with Mclaren, they'd need a Williams-esque 2014 story to pull that off.

The last time Williams were in good form were when they were essentially the BMW works team.

I heard that Honda have chucked a large sum of money into McLaren as well so fingers crossed it will make a difference and we can see them back at the front again!

True but as they say, every man has his price!

I think Hulkenburg would be a better option for them anyway, experienced, still young and a very good driver!

I think hulkenberg would be better suited to the team as massa's replacement than bottas'.

that could be one hell of a promising long-term partnership

A real shame really because he's quite an amazing and consistent driver.

So are you saying Bottas to McLaren and Hulkenburg to Williams or Bottas and Hulkenburg at Williams then McLaren having to find someone esle?

So according to Autosport McLaren are hoping to lure either Vettel or Alonso away, which means if Vettel goes to McLaren I will have to start liking him

I don't know why pundits keep saying the field is gaining, or even close for that matter. In Aus the Q3 difference was 0.3 secs, here in Italy, the gap is 0.5 secs, to the team who are undoubtedly speced to favour this type of circuit.

Also, i think Williams kinda shot themselves in the foot at the beginning of the year. At every other race, they've been at the top of the speed traps. However, the Mercs took that crown here where Williams should have run away with it. IMO, it's because they, unlike most other teams, have really short gear ratios and use 8th regularly at other slower tracks.

Hopefully all the race contenders make it through turn 1 tomorrow, should make for a very interesting race!

Dan is the MAN!!! Anyone else love watching him race? He was selling dummies today, Vettel and Perez both purchasers of his goods

He schooled Vettel good today, say what you want about tyre's being off, that dummy was top notch, Vettel bought it hook line and sinker!

Yeah he is a joy to watch driving. Alonso wasn't wrong about this season and Vettel at all

Rosberg really needs to learn how to deal well with pressure. He always makes mistakes when defending.

Great win for Hamilton, Think he would have caught Rosberg regardless of the mistakes but made it a little easier for him lol!

It's amazing how even when Riccardo has a difficult race he still manages to make some cracking overtaking moves, showed Vettel how to do it with that one!!

Cracking race, some brilliant driving (Gutierrez and Chilton excluded).

Hamilton was gonna take Nico eventually so probably just as well he went off so they didn't end up coming to blows. 7 points dropped isn't too bad.

Awesome drive from wee Sergio again, that battle with Button was brilliant to watch. Annoying that Kmag got another penalty to ruin his race as it was going pretty well. Great start but the car just wasn't strong enough to hold it out.

ineed, it was a great race last week! We got the start of the formula E this weekend too, we should see some decent racing there as well...assuming all the cars start

People are still pissy at Rosberg though, i don't know why. And this is how bad it is, i've just pieced together the conspiracy theorists view on it all (i think...anyway) Apparently, they think Rosberg's reprimand was to let Hamilton win this week.....

regarding what happened at spa, over the past 2 weeks, I have gone from thinking racing incident, to premeditated and ultimately back to seeing it as just a racing incident that rosberg was guilty of for causing.

    nothing more than that.

I've watched the incident over and over, in slow motion and at actual speed, listened to testimony from other F1 drivers past & present, and based on that, for me, there was no intent to deliberately sabotage hamilton'rs race.

it's just absurd to think that it was a deliberate action, there was too much at stake for rosberg to take such a chance.

and as for his alleged comments in the meeting, in retrospect, I feel that there was indeed some misinterpretation (if not by the rest of the people present, then by rosberg himself as to what he meant to say)

as for the overtake yesterday, it didn't strike me as being completely on the level. hamilton was closing on him, but he wasn't right on the back of him piling pressure on as is implied.

rosberg has been put under more pressure this season and has handled it fine.

the smile on wolff's face was rather telling to me as well.

was a smile depicting karma, or a smile of a team boss who has just witnessed one of his drivers executing a pre-planned command?

It definitely looked like a coincidence that he was smiling at that time but I Toto has said the feed isn't synchronised. Don't know what to believe.

It wouldn't be a shock if it wasn't though, it looked reminiscent of Canada to me.

Rosberg does lock-up for both his off's. There are white puffs during the breaking phase. As it was a one stop race, he was probably trying to save the tyres. Rather moot in the end though all things considering, he had a pitstop to 3rd in the bag anyways....

Hamilton also made mistakes there too, but, he chose to flatspot his tyres because it was toward the end of the race (lap 46-8 or something?)

Rosberg is getting some major flak though. sheesh.

In germany, Hamilton bumped into Raikkonen and Button in an arguably more aggressive manner than rosberg did him in Belgium.

People are looking way too deeply into this.

The thing i prefer to look at though:

Ricciardo really schooled Vettel. Feints slowing down like he was surrendering the corner, then accelerates round his back and goes down the inside as Vettel slowly moves to take the racing line....sublime stuff!

I thought it was strange that he went off at the same corner twice and both were exactly the same....

Mercedes seem like a mess of a team so I guess I could easily have been planned, but its one of those things we'll never know the truth. I think Hamilton would probably have taken Rosberg anyway eventually.

They've been sabotaging Hamilton's car so.........

It is strange Hamilton has more problems than Rosberg, but random is random, humans look for patterns in randomness and will find them because it is possible to have the same result multiple times over.
