Well, the Tigers were able to come out on top of the division for the first half of the season. We'll have to play better baseball in the second half, as Cleveland seems to be having a special season thus far. I really hope we can get back into the playoffs, it's been so frustrating seeing this team screw up during the second half of the season since our World Series loss in 06.

good all-star weekend, my boy Robbie Cano wins the HR derby with his DAD pitching to him (good story there) and the NL plays small ball like champs and win the allstar game. although homefield in the world series doesnt matter at all lol

I don't think the Giants would have won the World Series without the homefield advantage.
I just can't get into the all-star game anymore, it seems like most of the players make excusses so they don't have to play in it. I only turned it on to see Matt Weiters play and when he did he had a passed ball and grounded out on the first pitch. Would have rather seen JJ Hardy get in. Oh well life as an O's fan.

Don't remind me. I'm still trying to understand how Felix Pie and Derrek Lee were batting ahead of The Sheriff. Jeremy Guthrie is good as gone. We need to trade J.J hardy while the value is there. Just a full scale blow-up is in order. Trade Lee and Vlad for a bag of balls so we can have practice. When Roberts return (This year or next) get him on the first plane out of Baltimore. He has no place here anymore. (Mind you that pains me as a big B-Rob fan) But we have to move on.
Oh, Andy MacPhail isn't re-signing here. There is no doubt in my mind he's walking away from Baltimore. Can't say I blame him, but he's also out of touch with the international players. Here's to another year of losing!

I hate to say that I agree with you, we do need to blow it up. I would say that everyone is available for trade that's on the O's roster right now. Only ones I would keep would be Jones and Wieters and even that is a maybe.
I think MacPhail just wanted the O's job to try and turn us around so he could get the commissioners job. It won't hurt my feelings to see him go. Love my O's, but they are just painful to watch right now.
Greatness do you post on the Orioles Hangout?

Same way I feel about my fav. squad (Cubs). They need to trade who they can, blow up the team and start over. It's pretty awful trying to watch them at times.

I've been to one. Only thing that sucked is it was against the Cardinals (therefore packed) and we had bleacher seats and got there a bit later than we would have liked. Needless to say, there were no seats. We basically had to stand the whole time and couldn't see very well. But, we ended up leaving in the 8th and walked across the street to a bar and got to see Soriano on TV end the game with a walkoff hit, and heard the stadium go crazy. It was actually kind of cool. Then, within 10 mins the bar was so packed you couldn't move. Overall it was fun, I just wish we had gotten better seats.

I've been away this weekend because of the Otakon convention. I see the Orioles have traded Koji "Sideburns" Uehara. I understand why it happened, but I'm hurt. I'm legit hurt because I was a Koji fan when he got here. Honest to God truth! I liked his pitching style because he threw strikes, but he couldn't sustain it with the 162 game grind of the MLB. I'm glad he's going to a contender and I'm going to miss him and it was for the best. I'll be a closet Rangers fan until he's gone. You the man, Sideburns!

Any thoughts on World Series matchups? I think it might be Boston and Philadelphia or the Brewers, though if my Tigers make it to the playoffs I think we can beat at least Texas in a series if that is our matchup. We have a very favorable record against Texas this season, and anything can happen in the playoffs. There's a whole month+ to go, maybe the Tiggers can get hot at the right time going into the postseason. At least I hope so. With a good month left anybody else got any thoughts?
EDIT: More to my point the hosts of Baseball Tonight just said that the Tigers can beat the Yankees or the Red Sox in a five game series. I'm stoked

I hope my Tigers don't have a September collapse like we did a few years ago, losing a seven game lead and going into a playoff with Minnesota. Hopefully we're peaking at the right time, we only lost two games over the past ten, so hopefully we can keep it up. I know playing a potential series with Boston or the Yankess would be tough, but anything can happen in the playoffs, and as I said if we peak throughout September we can get hot. I don't fear the Rangers in any case.

Jeter's 3,000. Mo's 602, now Posada hitting the game winner to give the bombers the AL East Crown, good luck boston, we don't have to win against the rays tomorrow. don't let those tough Orioles smash your dreams!

What a great series! That last game was an epic nail biter. It was tough, but we pulled it out in the end. Now on to Texas. We have a favorable record against Texas this season, but admittedly this is the playoffs, but I have faith in my team. Come on Tiggers don't let me down.
